LMAO. LMAO.

But, but, but, Buck was *the* problem, not a league-average catcher, as some said.

I wanted to keep Buck...but let's be honest he wouldn't be an all-star if he was still on the Royals.

That just shows how much suck Toronto is.

Not really. Toronto is a club that would contend for the AL Central were they playing in that division. They are .500 after a recent slide in the stacked AL East. Shawn Marcum and Rickey Romero are nice pitchers and there is a lot of pop in that lineup.

Unrelated, but: how the Hell did Joey Votto of the Reds not get selected to the NL All-Star roster? He's one of the best bats in the whole NL. He gets snubbed but Omar ****ign Infante makes the team (seriously, he did)?

So what? The entire AL Central is suck too.
They would just suck less.

John Buck is as much of an all star as Ken Harvey.

Whoa, whoa!!! Buck isn't great, by any means, but he's a ML player.

Harvey was a ****ing T-Bone, for crying out loud.

Sure-Oz 07-04-2010 02:33 PM

I think i'd rather have bucks power over kendals 0 hr's

Absolutely. In all honesty, though, I'd still bitch about Buck's .306 OBP. (Kendall at .326, which still sucks).

Harvey was the lone Royal All Star in 2004.
He got one AB.
Struck out.

John Buck is not an All Star.

Deberg_1990 07-04-2010 02:48 PM

Harvey was only an All Star because of that dumb rule that says each team must have at least one player correct?

There must be tons Harvey types who have made the All Star teams thoughout the years because of that stupid rule.

tk13 07-04-2010 03:01 PM

Good for Buck. I always said Ken Harvey got a tough deal, but we'll never know. He might have flamed out, but the guy hit at every level he ever played at. Instead everybody fell in love with Calvin Pickering.

Harvey was more deserving of it than Mark Redman... that is the most epic terrible all-star. Harvey at least had a decent 1st half the year he made it.

But yeah there sure were some glaring omissions. Votto leads all of MLB in OPS. Jared Weaver leads the league in K's. Billy Wagner might have been the best closer in the NL so far (1.52 ERA, 52 K in 33 IP). None of them made the team.

duncan_idaho 07-04-2010 03:41 PM

This first half from Buck reminds me greatly of the last time he was a No. 1 catcher: 2007.

.245/15/29 slash line at the break. Faded to a sub .200 average, 3 HR and 19 RBI in the second half.

He's consistently shown he can't hit over a full season as a catcher. And if he isn't hitting, the only attribute he brings is his game calling. His defensive and throwing skills are below par.

Votto is a beast, very surprised

Buck can eat the same dick that Kendall and Olivo can.
