Nori, for comparison's sake, is checking in with a -.4 WAR.

Winning team= fans
Losing team= no fans what a concept, I will never blame fans for not showing up if the product on the field does not warrant parking and ticket prices. This city seems pumped for the Royals right now though. |

The ASG is such a joke. |
Cardinals and Yankees didn't sell out but the game against the Mariners did. Got to love winning.

This is not exactly a random Tuesday night game in April. |
Im really amazed it sold out quite honestly. In 2003 the team was in first as late as the end of July and they weren't selling out all Friday games I don't think.

Good God
KC with 4 lefties in the lineup tonight. Royals righties 0x28 vs Iwakuma. |
The @Royals are only @MLB team to have 3 players with at least 20 doubles - Eric Hosmer, Alex Gordon and Alcides Escobar.
|
Time to start a new streak, and get a W tonight !

This is why if we end up getting into the wild card game I would not want james shields pitching. I know he is our ace and can go a lot of innings but he always seems to dig holes in the early innings and then levels off through the later innings. If we only have one game I think we have better chances with someone else. He especially does not seem to pitch well against Detroit or the AL Central.
|
What us wrong with big game James? He has been off for a while.
|
Yep, Shields is the issue that should be discussed. For his first couple of outings I was thinking he would just correct himself.. doesn't look that way.
|
He went in 8-3 with a 3.50 era. What do people want?
|
That was an annoying loss
Butler is raking |
Quote:
It's the #1 reason for the big innings he gives up. |
Quote:
I don't disagree to the fact that last season was way over Shields' career numbers. However, as a #1 he should be expected to give the Royals a chance and not force the offense to play catch up. |

Shields has not been as sharp lately. It's amazing how far this team has come though. Two seasons ago Bruce Chen was this team's opening day starter. Now we're worried about a guy with a 3.70 ERA.

Shields is a good player. Our team era is still fantastic. We lose games because our power spots at 1B, DH, and RF can't hit the ball with any power

Let's just all take a deep breath and come back tomorrow and kick some ass.
This loss ****ing sucked, but there is still a lot of baseball to be played. For as bad as this loss was, I guarantee there will be wins that will make us forget all about losses like these. |

His #'s keep falling year after year. 2012 he hit 38 doubles and had 10 HR's last year 20 doubles and 8 HR's... the OBP was .356 and .355 atleast those 2 years. Everything down 20-30 points more |

Looks like Maxwell did pretty well in AAA, so maybe he found his swing? |

I just assume professional athletes are arrogant until proven otherwise. But it's certainly harder to tolerate when they are underperforming. |
By the way Rex was on Fox Sports Radio this morning. When he isn't trying to be his goofy self, he can be a really damn good announcer. He had a real good interview.
|
Did some quick math on the Royals ticket site, I estimate that there are roughly 14,000 tickets available. If that is true, then they have probably sold about 24,000, so they should get over 25,000 easily, but maybe not 30k unless there is a huge walkup.
edit: There are roughly 15,000 tickets available for Sunday, so about 23,000 sold for that. edit2: For sunday's "bark at the park" promotion, the 6 sections that were reserved for dogs and their owners are all sold out. So for that game if its not full of people, we're at least going to be at the maximum allowable capacity for dogs. |

The only thing I loathe more than baseball is hearing about Cards baseball.
The Cards aren't in 1st and the Royals are (or were as of yesterday's paper.) I haven't watched the Royals since Bo but if they can somehow manage to stay competitive and make Cards fans sweat I'll ****ing love it... |

I really think Dayton is at his wits end with these two. I give him a lot of credit for building a stout pitching staff but they're killing his team. Vargas busted his ass in 90 degree humidity today and took a completely undeserved loss. He needs to give Erica a severe code red in the locker room.

"Severe code red" = surprise butt sex?
