Looks like 2008 was the last time a QB did not go #1 overall.

IN retrospect, Matt Ryan should have been, because Miami selected Jake Long over him and where has that gotten them?

1. Kansas City: Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah

My take: We all know the Chiefs need a quarterback badly and we all know there are no great quarterback choices available at the top of the draft. So, this pick works. He would be another fine player on a potentially good defense. Perhaps the Chiefs could find a bridge veteran quarterback and take someone like North Carolina State’s Mike Glennon in the second round.

ESPN just trolling now.

Jones, Moore, or Milliner are definitely tempting. The true fan in me wants to trade back into first for QB

Yeah, it appears the guys at ESPN are trying to prop up Kiper and McShay's idea that there aren't any elite QBs in this draft.

Toeing the company line, so to speak.

So wish we sucked this bad last season.

We'd be sitting pretty w/ Andrew Luck right now.

Romeo and Daboll wouldn't be HC/OC.

This isn't True Fan. Not anywhere close. Actually, it's being very aggressive, but there isn't a talent after the top 2 guys to justify this type of play.

Worst-case scenario: draft Barkley.
Likely scenario: we draft Smith or Wilson .

Next move: profit.

You have to have a partner and it appears this is a weaker draft with players that no one truly "covets"

CoMoChief 12-12-2012 02:06 PM

If the scouts aren't hot on Geno Smith or this Glennon guy (haven't watched him play at all this year - never really even heard of him before today actually)

And if they think they will both drop to 2nd round, then you take them in the 2nd rd.

What I don't want to happen...is that we take a QB #1 just because we have the #1 overall pick. Yes it is the most important position and we BADLY need one, but there isn't a RGIII or a Andrew Luck coming out of this draft.

I don't know if there really is a clear #1 pick at this point. There are a lot of guys are IMO are in the 5-10 range, but nothing that warrants a #1 overall pick IMO. Just like 2009, IMO it's going to hard as **** to trade down and KC is going to end up reaching again.

DeezNutz 12-12-2012 02:07 PM

Wait, is he wanting to move back in the draft, or trade back into the first for a QB? I thought the latter and responded in kind.

Yeah, it sure would suck to pick a guy 8-10 slots too high and HAVE a QB vs. not taking one, trading down, or otherwise take a chance that we get NOBODY AND HAVE NO QB going into next year.

JFC.

Just sitting, and waiting, and hoping, and praying...

I want to draft Jones/Moore/Milliner and pass on Smith but trade into first round for Wilson or Barkley at some reasonable point.

And if that plan fails?

You end up without a QB.

No ****ing way.

BigCatDaddy 12-12-2012 02:15 PM

I love how all the true fans glossed over that he had RG3 going 11th and Tannehill out of the top 25 this time last year.

So? Who else are you going to take? What position?
