I'm jealous of the Tigers.

Detroit had the worst record of all the AL playoff teams. A couple of non-playoff teams had a better record. And yet here they are, going to the World Series.

Just goes to show...something. I don't know what.

Actually I do: Doesn't much matter how many you win as long as you get into the dance. Congrats to the AL champion Tigers.

Heh, I didn't realize that until now. So basically MLB has turned into the NFL now. Teams with worse records get into the playoffs over better teams simply because they play in a weak division.

It's getting to the point in pro sports where the regular seasons don't matter much.

The Tigers were arguably the 6th or 7th best team in the AL this season (NYY, BAL, TAM, OAK, TEX, LAA), but the playoffs are pretty random (unless you're the Cardinals and just win using Beltran, intangibles and magic).

All that being said, though, I think Detroit is a better ballclub than their record indicates. They underachieved this year and I'm not surprised at all that they're where they are now.

The short series format certainly favors teams with dominant pitching like the Tigers have.
