Dad had a 66 Dodge Monaco though that had cruise control. It had a dial like on a radio that you turned to select the speed you wanted to run at. Pull the knob and it would take over.

His mother is batshit crazy. I've had some dealings with her in my last job, and It's clear she has not recovered from losing him. 30 years later and she can't hold a conversation without bringing him up.
