No, but if the Chiefs are begging a veteran to come out of retirement for another season, they have to have a selling point that makes it worth his while to come back

why would he come back unless they, the FO, said look we have a need at ___, we evaluated the players on the o-line and some of them arent where we'd like them to be. We have a almost 30 year old QB we traded for that we need to protect and we cant go into the season with a bunch of unproven guys. Please help

This is no different than signing Fasano at TE, Avery at WR, Dunta CB. They needed veteran help at certain positions, cause they clearly dont like the unproven lack of production that is there, until proven otherwise, and dont have time to go into a season with said question marks, it's not the Raiders or the Jaguars that plan to field entire offenses and defenses of unproven players.

I could see all these guys if we were rebuilding with a rookie QB, but they dont have to time to wait into year 3 or 4 of the Jeff Allen project. Or find out if Rodney Hudson can play a full season. Or see of Donald Stephenson can handle his own

Alex Smith is 28. But yet he gets referred to as "Almost 30" :doh!:
Does someone who is 25 get referred to as almost 27? Or is this just a anti Smith/QB thing?

He'll be 29 when the season starts. (actually, in a month)

That's almost 30.

That's about as "almost 30" as "almost 30" can get.

some of you are holding onto to some unproven young shitty players for too long

You are a clown. These are guys in their 2nd and 3rd years....Training camp hasn't even started for ****'s sake, how do we know who did what over the offseason? They've brought in vet players all over the board, so I don't think it means anymore than bringing back a vet player for depth.

Thats why we need a QB of the future in Geno..

We have all of our holes filled so why not draft for the future.

Lilga would prob be a backup. Schwartz will probably be playing the other guard opposite of Jon Asamoah.

Geez he's only 31? He looks old as ****.

Mav 04-09-2013 04:45 PM

Joe Flacco, 28, Alex Smith, 28

Peyton Manning 36, Tom Brady, 36, Drew Brees 34............30, is death for a running back. 30, for qbs, is actually their prime............

and for the great ones, say like John Elway, he played his best at 37, and 38.

Not that I think at all that Alex Smith will be a chief when he is even 33, but lets stop pretending that hes gonna die in the next year. Even if some of you wishes he would.

these guys are also 2nd and 3rd round draft picks and they are being treated like they are 5th round developmental picks.

these days 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks should be plug and play players. But instead we end up with a guy like Jon Baldwin who ends up being 5th string or a Jeff Allen that they have no idea where to play him. Same with Hudson.

I didn't understand the Baldwin pick then, I don't understand it now. So much athleticism, so much potential, saw dust for brains......

It has little to do with his brain, and far more to do with that rather limited athleticism.

If this signing happens, you can bet your ass Geno is the pick.

It's the same reason why I think they signed Donnie Avery, to start, Fasano, to start, Dunta, to start. They arent signing vets to play 2nd string. They are signing vets to play now.

Dunta starting over flowers or smith?

Sweet Daddy Hate 04-09-2013 04:51 PM

One thing is for sure; the Chiefs are making it ABUNDANTLY clear that they do not see a lineman worth the first overall in this draft. Thank....God.
