Love you too, Stevie.
For as long as I've been a mod here, this board has never employed strict moderation methods. To my knowledge, none of us spend our days sitting at a computer with our mouse hovering over the "Ban" button hoping that someone will slip up so that we can pull the trigger and end their message board existence. Some may think that the mods are TOO relaxed at times, but it's one of the things that sets this board apart from others.
Along with giving posters the freedom to say stupid things, this board also gives posters the freedom to tell people off when they say stupid things. Generally, that's pretty effective around here. Some posters have even survived being on the receiving end of that and managed to become better contributors eventually.
Stevie, you and I both know that the personality of this board has changed quite a bit in the last couple of years. And I bet you know me well enough to know some of my reasons for not posting here as much lately. But the real measure of this message board is not that one person posted something offensive and disrespectful (and at an incredibly bad time at that), but that so many posters immediately jumped to Lamar's defense.
Another thing that has not changed in the time that I've been here is that this is a community-driven board. If anyone thinks that something needs to be done about mac58, post a poll. Banned? Thread-starting privileges removed? Nothing, just use the ignore list? Put it to a vote.
If you feel that strongly about it, you don't have to be a mod to do something about it.
This message board is like a car, and the members of this community are in the driver's seat. The moderators are just the engine that tries to get the board to where the members want it to be.
