Herm Edwards, Kansas City -- The Chiefs are on a franchise-worst 11-game losing streak, and things have gotten so bad these days that they're losing to the Raiders by 15 points. At home. With Oakland quarterback JaMarcus Russell completing all of six passes. In fact, with reports swirling that Raiders coach Lane Kiffin would be fired after Sunday's game, and then that not being the case, it now appears that losing to the Chiefs has become grounds for dismissal. Quick, somebody tell rookie Falcons head coach Mike Smith it's win or else this week at home against K.C.

They might have had a great 2008 draft, but I look for the Chiefs to battle it out all season with the Rams (nice football state, Missouri) and maybe the Bengals for the distinction of being the NFL's worst team. They've got no quarterbacking, a disgruntled and unreliable lead running back in Larry "Me-first'' Johnson, and the look of a team that's in the deepest darkest stages of a years-long rebuilding program.

Edwards' fate is pretty clearly tied to the question of whether team owner Clark Hunt finally ends the tenure of long-time Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson, who has served in his capacity 20 seasons without delivering even a Super Bowl appearance. For that matter, Kansas City hasn't won a playoff game since 1993. If "King Carl'' survives yet again, so will Edwards. But if Hunt pulls the plug on Peterson, the new GM customarily gets to hire a head coach of his choosing. And that could end Edwards' three-year K.C. tenure.

You know, I never considered that possibility.

Why, Mr. Rooster, do you feel that way? Because of Marty's conservative philosophy? Because of his post-season problems? Because he didn't want Marty cozying up to Eli's women?

I always thought it was because of his conservative philosophy and lack of QB development skills. Marty stealing Eli's women could be the real reason. :-)

Ah. That's logical. It's true that Marty isn't the first name that comes to mind when you say, "quarterback development".

Actually, I never really thought about it, to tell you the truth, Mr. Rooster. I just figured that Archie wanted Eli to go to a market where he could get lots of national press attention. Or, that he preferred an NFC team due to the fact that Countryfied Cretin Cheater Number One is in the AFC. You know, so they wouldn't knock each other out of the playoffs until the very end. Your reason makes more sense, though.

Huard's last throw was that interception, which bounced off Devard Darling. Huard looked disgusted after Darling ****ed that play up.

Because it was reported/talked about by Grunny on the morning drive show on 810 I can also report from the same source that several players are upset with Huard for quiting and went to Herm and or managment and said they would rather play for anyone but Huard because he quit on them.

Wile_E_Coyote 09-19-2008 11:27 AM

If the coaching staff had Damon Huard fake the injury to save him face & play the younger player. Did Surtain fake an injury too? Carr is getting valuable playing time & it was the plan all a long to get him some

Won't happen and I will tell you why. Carl will be fired or stripped of his GM duties and Bill Kuharich will be promoted thus continuing having Herm as the head coach

I used to work for someone I could not stand, but I worked my ass and supported my team.

It's pretty simple.

I guess Elway never quit on Dan Reeves either heh?

no its not pretty simple, if you dont realize it i'll break it to you HERM IS THE TEAM right now. he makes all decisions hell he may even call the offensive plays. if you cant realize that you worked for someone you couldnt stand yet showed up, "worked your ass"(are you a stripper?, maybe prostitute.) and supported your team then you never actually quit on anything did ya?

If that is the case the team should release him or seek a trade immediately. I can't imagine who would go and complain even if he did quit. The OL that isn't protecting him? LJ who can't hit a hole? The WRs who can't get open and/or drop passes?

Grunny said he had talked to "several" current Chiefs players individually and they all said the same thing. Huard quit and they are pissed.

There are many trangressions that can be forgiven in the NFL by fellow players but quitting ain't one of them.
