I think guys like Braylon Edwards, TO, etc, could have played in the NBA if they had pursued that.

Basileus777 01-18-2009 06:00 PM

If Derrick Rose put on some weight and learned to catch, run routes, and understand the intricacies of playing WR he could possibly play in the NFL. But athletic ability doesn't mean that can learn those things are demonstrated by the many athletic freaks who bust in the NFL. Either way, I don't see him revolutionizing the league or dominating it, which is what you are arguing.

If you simply said there are many NBA players who could play in the NFL, you would be making a reasonable claim. But you are arguing that marginal players like Gerald Green would ****ing revolutionize the league, which is just absurd. I actually think NBA players are generally more "athletic" than NFL players, but their type of athleticism doesn't necessarily translate to the NFL.

After doing a little research...apparently LeBron can run a 4.6...

6'8"
250
44" vertical
4.6 speed

I google'd how much he could bench...came up with 390 lbs.

This guy is just a freak.

Green is a marginal NBA player with freakish athletic ability.

Gates was a marginal NCAA player and look at him now.

Well T.O. is an example of a guy who will make more money in the NFL then he ever would have made in the NBA, so good for him.

he's listed as 250 on ESPN...but if he's 275, maybe he's a speed rushing DE ROFL

ChiefsCountry 01-18-2009 06:04 PM

LeBron was also #1 HS FB prospect in high school as well. He is just a pure freak of nature.

Basileus777 01-18-2009 06:05 PM

LeBron is 6 foot 9 inches and somewhere between 265 and 270. Though he probably doesn't run a 4.6 at his current weight.

The talking heads all say he is 275 pounds now. He was close to 250 pounds coming out of high school. I wouldn't be surprised if he has grown a few inches since then too.

Hootie 01-18-2009 06:08 PM

ok...then lets move on to Kobe Bryant...

He could do the same thing.

Vince Carter? Yep.

And I'm talking 25-28 year old Kobe, VC...

If you're athletic enough to catch a full court pass in the air and reverse slam dunk it all in one motion...I'm pretty sure you're athletic enough to catch a deep ball...and I'm pretty sure when you can jump higher and already have a 7+" advantage on the people covering you...you'd be pretty unstoppable.

dj56dt58 01-18-2009 06:08 PM

can't really compare..is Kobe more athletic than Willie Roaf? well, yeah, but Roaf was 300+ and was very quick and athletic for his size..if Kobe added on a few hundred pounds, different story. they are completely different types of athletes

I'm comparing NBA players to NFL receivers.

Basileus777 01-18-2009 06:12 PM

You should really be comparing them to TEs.
