Arizona needs a QB. Gabbert has to be their guy.

Smith's arms are 35 3/8" long. That is freakishly long for a guy who is 6'4 and 1/4. That's 2 1/2" longer than DaQuan Bowers' arms. That's over an inch longer than JPPs. It's also one of the reasons why he's such a devastating pass rusher. Tackles can't get their arms on him.

The thing that makes Smith special isn't elite speed, it's his ability to use his hands to get blockers off of him. That's one of the reasons why he can rush inside and outside. He's still very fast for a DE, and he's got a good deal of explosiveness.

Um... I hated JPP as a first round prospect. Check the DraftPlanet archives. I still do.

Are you still suggesting he could be a 3-4 OLB? Or are we just mocking him to 4-3 defenses, now?

I've read that they may trade for a QB like Kolb or sign one like Bulger. Who knows?

Well, Aldon has the same kind of athletic ability with better production in a better conference. So if JPP can be considered an athletic freak with a shorter broad jump, a similar 40, fewer reps and shorter arms, why can't Smith?

And yes, he could play both positions.

No. Physically, he's a Matt Cassel clone, though. Well, with less mobility.

Really? You think Matt Cassel and Greg McElroy are physically the same?

Cassel's a much better athlete. McElroy is far less scared of a pass rush (I suppose that's mental, though). But in terms of what they're going to give you on the field? Similar arm strength, similar preferred throws, similar preponderance for checkdowns, similar in ability to stretch the field, etc. I probably could have chosen a better initial phrasing. My point is that they are similar players.

Man...after watching Patrick Peterson highlights, and if KC had the #1 pick this year I would seriously take him over anyone in the draft. The guy is a playmaker and is going to be a stud for years. I really see him being the next Deion Sanders. Watch tomorrow, he is going to light up the combine

FWIW Jones had a good game against him.

Oh ok....You said "physically" so I thought you meant from a body standpoint.

Unaware the Chiefs brought him into to play OLB in the 3-4, but that was over 20 years ago even if he would have been brought in as a 3-4 OLB.

Damn Prince and Peterson both ran in the 4.3's. Theres going to be 2 CB's going in the top 10 kinda weird
