my concern is the Houston is more or less a pure pass rushing type guy which puts him at the same position as Hali. A strong side OLB in a 3-4 needs to be able to play 'backwards' as well as pass rush the QB.

Wow.
You took a third rounder in the first. You suck at this. ;) |

At the end of the day, he's got some great passrushing tools (still needs to work on his moves) and a willing run defender. We're a better defense with him than without him. He could play in nickel packages, give Hali time to breathe (Hali played far too many snaps last year), and still get plenty of looks in our heavier sets on defense, and he'll have plenty of chances when Crennel gets creative. |

Hali and Houston coming off the either edge on passing downs could be quite impressive. Who knows, maybe Crennel will stack them on the same side occasionally and force the opposing LT and RB/TE to really step up. |
I really like this guy's body type. He has a great combination of thickness and athleticism. Not too bulky and not too lean.

im not sure which 3-4 teams draft coverage Outside linebackers. Woodley is 270 and Harrison is far from a cover lb.

When i see the combine stuff, i always look for a picture of the players legs... I can tell more about a guy from just seeing how hes put together than I can many of the combine numbers.... Houston has thick solid legs, Von Miller had enormous sticks as well
