I would expect this too. As BK points out, Cassel and the Chiefs offense seem to start out every season poorly.

The last time the Chiefs were 1 - 0???

2010. Beat SD with 68 yards passing offense. Jamaal scored, Moeaki caught a 2 yard TD pass and Dex ran to daylight on a kick return.

I don't see that happening against the Falcons unless they can get production out of the OL.

THIS IS ONLY THE CASE BECAUSE WE'VE HAD A BAD HC/BAD QB COMBO for the last.....jebus......FOREVER.

I completely disagree with the "soft sell" approach Romeo appears to have but this team made a complete 180 after he took over.

I think it's fair to give this guy the year and see what he does. It's not like he's some ****ing N00B golfer with no experience.

HE HAS RINGS.

Don't forget about Gray. That kid will contribute.

You may see him during blowouts etc, but I wouldn't expect this kid to play at all this season unless somebody goes down.

I am a believer in Romeo Crennel's coaching ability. The Chiefs, as a franchise -- not so much. They have talent now, yes. But is it the kind of talent that can win in this league? For the past decade or so, no. I'll stick with that until they prove different. The Hunts, that is.

The big question is will Cassel play well enough for the offense to contribute. Probably not, if last year is an indication.

Cassel is not the focus of the offense. Charles and Hillis are/will be. And since neither played last season aside from one game from Charles, last year is not a good indicator of Cassel's performance this season. I'm not saying he will be great or anything but simply that last season is not fully indicative of what the offense will be like this season.

i hope Charles and Hillis can get the offense rolling but i expect opposing defenses will crowd the LOS and force Cassel to beat them.
and remember Cassel had Charles in the wildcard game vs Baltimore and he still looked like pure shit.

You need to get over this "beating the shit out of" idea.

We are not one of the best teams in the league.

With Orton we would have a chance to beat Atlanta.

With Cassel we have no chance.

We'll lose by 10 points probably.

I just love when this board overrates teams well above thier station.

I remember last season when we started out the season and got blown out by crap teams like Buffalo. Teams that we should have beaten.

I will reserve judgement about actually losing to the Falcons but if it's similar to last season I expect them to come out of the gate rusty, shitty, clueless, etc.

They are a legit top 10 NFL team.

We are dogshit.

They aren't a top 10 team on the road. You even pay attention to other games around the league? Chiefs may lose, but to pretend it's an automatic loss is foolish even for trolling.

We lose to perennial playoff teams with Cassel as our QB.

It's what we do.

So I chalk this one up as an automatic loss.

Sorry for being logical.

Also, this is the kind of game Tony Gonzalez usually excels at.

A worthless non-conference game where the team doesn't really have an established identity and can be easily defeated. No pressure to do well or win it.

Has Romeo figured out how to stop TEs yet? Is Eric Berry gonna be the guy? Or someone else? While our defense will rape faces this year, they have a lot of questions and holes to account for in scheme. This isn't like an elite San Francisco defense that shuts down large downfield options. This is still a Romeo Crennel bend-don't-break wait until they're the ones who **** up defense. And Tony usually rapes those teams.

Well in that Baltimore game Charles was tearing up Baltimore and the outcome was in question then the fumble and he really never saw the ball after that. Also that Baltimore team, and the current one, is way better than the Falcons we will see.

i agree Baltimore from 2010 would be way better than the 2012 Falcons.

i just dont trust Cassel to lead and QB the chiefs.
i'm willing to see if he can prove me wrong vs decent teams tho, i've been waiting three years..

I don't trust him in that aspect either. But I also don't expect our defense to let games get out of hand as long as the offense doesn't put them in bad situations all game long. And with Charles and Hillis I am expecting a lot of 3rd and shorts or 3rd and fives which should allow us to keep the chains moving and matriculate the ball on the field.

yep.
Scott thinks he can protect Cassel with that Rushing Attack.
it'll probably work as long as Matt dont have to attempt a pass beyond 5-8 yards.
