Ok, don't call it sophomore slump. Call it bad luck hitting, especially early in the season. He was knocking the cover off the ball, but right at people. Can't remember seeing such bad luck at the plate.

Trading Hosmer would be a monumental ****up. You can NOT spin it any other way and make it believable.

Mostly me.

I said they still have a shot since the division was so shitty.

This was when Chicago was leading the division at 3 games over .500

stonedstooge 07-08-2012 01:18 PM

I'm still hoping for a .500 season. Been steady on that all year

Trading Hosmer would be a bad pr move for the fanbase, but it would be a great baseball move. Get the right guys for him while he still has some value.

Hosmer is struggling less than Butler did in his sophomore year.

DeezNutz 07-08-2012 01:22 PM

Hosmer will improve and be a very steady, productive contributor. He will not be a phenom, however. That's a status reserved for Perez (and soon to be Myers).

Nightfyre 07-08-2012 01:23 PM

You guys are reeruned if you think you can call a players career when he's just 22.

Incorrect by virtually all offensive metrics.

No one is "calling a career" but superstar status is rare, and these types are often self-evident.

THIS.

The same could be said for Alex Gordon. We wouldn't even be this down on Hosmer if the team weren't on the cusp of being halfway decent.

JFC

Ok, give us some names you would expect back for Hosmer. I'm genuinely curious as to who you would go after with Hosmer as trade bait.

DeezNutz 07-08-2012 01:25 PM

Alex Gordon was supposed to be a #3 hitter and a ****ing monster. He never lived up to this billing.

But we're still very glad that he's a Royal. Same will be true for Hosmer.

You don't think he showed any Superstar status last season?
