Can someone link me to the post (or source) about Hunt's conversation with Manning? Or at least sum it up for me?

I keep seeing allusions to it, but nothing specific.

Clark: So Peyton, why wouldn't you come to KC?

Peyton: Pioli's a dick.

Clark: God dammit.

Just going by The Bad Guy's info.

To follow up on the Peyton point, here is my speculation:

Peyton would not return phone calls all off-season. When he announced his decision, he shut himself off from the other teams. During season, Clark could not have contact with PM.

Yesterday was the first chance Clark could get time with PM to ask him truly why he wouldn't consider the Chiefs after it was widely speculated that the Chiefs were the best fit for PM.

I think Clark could have taken if Peyton didn't think the roster was there. But as people have said for a while, Peyton needed to trust the people he was working with and he had nothing but disdain for Pioli.

Age discrimination, I think, was the rumor I've heard before.

And refusing to pay Haley.

Right, so Pioli sweeps out a bunch of old timers and they ban together claiming age discrimination. No idea how that would affect Clark's decision-making regarding keeping Pioli or not.

I'm going to re-read it, but at first blush the OP makes to sense to me at all.

DTLB58 12-31-2012 09:21 PM

That's the biggest bunch of bull I've ever read.

Amnorix 12-31-2012 09:32 PM

So disclaimer - I'm not a chiefs fan and am (obviously) much less familiar with Chiefs stuff than you guys, but I gotta say I don't see how the OP makes any sense at all.

So who/what is SOC and why would he risk getting fired by sending what seems to be an unauthorized email (hello PROVABLE misconduct) about inner workings stuff?!?

Clark is trying to force Pioli's hand and have him quit. Clark had a heated discussion with Scott this morning according to this email. Clark told him he won't have any say in this head coach because "this head coach will be here longer than you will".
Makes zero sense. No way in a hundred million years Pioli quits and breaks his contract. It's so absurd it's laughable. Can't imagine why Hunt would even bother.

Then there's this piece of info. Clark talked with Peyton Manning at length Sunday night. He wanted to know why the Chiefs weren't considered and everything Peyton said pointed the finger squarely on Pioli. Said Pioli's rep across the league is terrible. His inability to foster a "team" environment instead of one ruled like a dictator was huge too.

This really pissed Clark off. I said in a previous post that the loss could have triggered all of this, but it's apparent the PM discussion could have as well.
If this is how Hunt learned this for the first time (assuming any of it is true) then he is stunningly out of touch, no?

Quote:

Clark wants to make a splash. He also wants to save the money from just firing Pioli. With all the lawsuits that former employees have pending against the Chiefs that list Pioli, Clark may have a case to fire him with definite cause.
Not likely. For cause terminations in normal contracts are usually very limited. I dunno about GM contracts, but probably even more so. BUT, whatever for cause argument they had was likely blown by waiting YEARS to fire the guy. Plus Hunt probably approved the firings and the risk of an age discrimination lawsuit was likely known.

Are you aware of piolis ego?

If pioli knows he's going to get fired next year anyway, why would he stick around in a neutered environment when he can leave today with a huge buyout?
