The way everyone has reacted to it, it sounds like there's a much bigger story here. I think questioning if he was gay and bullied for it holds a ton of water.

I'm thinking Martin is likely gay. I still don't understand how one grown man can allow himself to be bullied out of 15k.

Incognito reminds me of this douchebag I knew in college. He was a football player and would routinely get drunk and pick fights with people at frat parties. One night I was sober driving and apparently someone decided they were fed up with his bullshit and they brained him over the head with a beer bottle. I made my last rounds of the party house for the night and was prepared to head home when this crumpled mass beckons me.

He's laying on the ground in a small pool of blood, and he cocks his head forward, saying,

"Can you please take me to the hospital?"

I tell him, "Sorry, asshole, you're going to have to bleed."

Guy doesn't want to come out and say 'they are picking on me' and have that follow him around all over. He doesn't want to go back to Miami and have the same guys harass him all the time.

Miami just needs to trade/cut him and let him get a fresh start

I'm not sure how one grown man allows himself to be bullied by another.

I still don't understand how a guy like Incognito can be that much of a dickhead and keep signing new contracts. In most professions, you would get fired or reprimanded.

If the bullying was out of line, which seems to be the case, then I'm a little more sympathetic to the guy taking the abuse.

I was undersized in school and looked young for my age, this meathead would try to get physical with me but I found out his folks were divorced. Every time he started up I would crush him on how his mom didn't love him and that he was the reason she abandoned him and his drunk dad. He stopped coming around after awhile.

He describes a culture of older players forcing younger teammates to pick up the tab, with one player being handed a bill for a $30,000 team dinner. “The veterans are using the younger players as an ATM, I’m told,” he reported. That dovetails with reports that Martin was somehow coerced into paying $15,000 toward a trip to Las Vegas that he didn’t attend

Congrats on your shit post.

Bullying people you expect to come in and play like veterans right away is flat out ****ing stupid and it should stop.

Why not just cut Incognito now?

Probably because the Dolphins O-Line would go from a dumpster fire to a raging dumpster fire. Doesn't excuse keeping the shithead, but gotta win dem foobaww games

Context is important. Was it worse than anywhere else? Even without context, is it something that needs to stop anyway?

It's time the player's union look into hazing, at least when it comes to money. Maybe forcing rookies to pay for a $15,000 trip to Vegas happens everywhere, but it shouldn't happen anywhere.

I've never seen the"pay for a trip" thing. I was referring to the dinner tab part. As I understand it they only do it to the high draft pick, big contract rooks. It's a rite of initiation thing, doesn't bother me a bit.

Be a ****ing man.

No matter your profession, literally, every other person on earth is in competition with you every second of the day.

Someone wants your job. That big project you're working on. Your wife. To bang your daughter. To beat up your son. To repo your car. Someone will probably steal the chiefs flag off your car as well.

Suck it up...soldier on...

I think it's a practice that needs to be stopped. Haze all you want. But don't involve big chunks of money. A few years ago, it was reported that Dez Bryant had to pay $50,000+ for dinner. I don't care how much these players make. That has to stop.
