Hey guys my boss and I did the entire marketing campaign for this film, the trailers, the TV spots, all print, etc.

There was a different ending where this precise scenario happened. Guess what? It tested terrible.

It's funny how these things are usually a "grass is always greener" feeling. An ending where they die made people feel like they went through all of it for nothing.

The general public hate downer endings. I imagine big movie studios are not inclined to spend 200 milly on a picture with a downer ending.

Just watched it. REALLY liked it. Wish they would have explained the end a little better. I understand wanting the happy ending and what not, but sending him that far back doesn't make sense at all. But otherwise, great movie.

Was a toss up between that and GotG for which movie I enjoyed the most. Glad you liked it!

Yeah, still not sure why this flick whiffed at the theaters. Very entertaining. Maybe the release date just was wrong fro whatever reason.

They basically renamed the film for the DVD release.

Studios often lament the fact they have to remarket a movie when it’s about to hit home entertainment platforms, costing them millions in extra advertising dollars.

But in “Edge of Tomorrow’s” case, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment appears to be embracing the chance for a redo and is touting the film’s “Live Die Repeat” slogan over the film’s actual title (see below). The original source material for the time-looping Doug Liman-directed sci-fi actioner was “All You Need is Kill.”

On the film’s DVD and Blu-ray disc packaging, available for purchase Oct. 7, the title doesn’t even appear until Cruise and co-star Emily Blunt in the same line.

“Edge of Tomorrow,” although well received by critics, stumbled at the box office, earning $364 million worldwide, and just $99 million in the U.S.

That’s not to say “Live Die Repeat” wasn’t prominent in the film’s original marketing campaign.

The slogan was front and center in the film’s posters and billboards, creating potential over the film’s title, as well. But on a smaller box cover — and its final design — the words stand out even more.

I don't get the hate for Tom Cruise. The guy just makes solid to great movies consistently.

This movie was pretty ****ing good.

Spoiler!

Still loved it.. And that chick is not super hot. No tits, no ass, just an OK face- but she could get the dick for some odd reason.

Marketing is the main reason but there's still a large number of people that have difficultly separating Tom Cruise the actor from Tom Cruise the Scientologist.

If the studios still owned the system like they did from 1920-1970, Tom Cruise would essentially be a national hero.

The guy consistently makes solid flicks.

But he does get to work with the top talent.

He's been there long enough to know to be choosey on who he works with.

To be fair the dude can act and is in remarkably good shape for his age.

People are really turned off by his personal life and his box office clout isn't the same as it was before his couch jumping days, let alone since Katie left him due to Scientology.

I couldn't care less about his personal life but it's definitely affected his career as of late.

It's not only that but the fact that he's accumulated so much wealth that he chooses whom to work with, not the other way around.

He's like Tom Hanks in that respect.

Now there's an actor I just can't stand to watch. His movies have always bored the living shit out of me.

I liked him in Bachelor Party and Saving Private Ryan. He's also great as Woody in the Toy Story films and shorts.

Other than that, I'm with you.
