Your starting 2016 offensive line.

Fisher - Fulton - Kush - Johnson - LDT

Total price tag is somewhere around $9M for the whole line put together.

I hope we keep Stephenson. He seemed to start playing really well last year. Can't imagine he's cost much either.

Agreed, I have no problem with that guy, he would be the ultimate swing tackle.

Laurent is a creature.

And, for those who think he's French...he's not.

If he has a French last name he is French.

And hopefully he does well. But he just jumped upped two levels. He did not even face real D1 talent, now he will be going up against pros if he gets to play. Hopefully he learns and plays in a few years.

Like Pierre Garcon?

This guy is as fast and strong as any tackle in this draft. If he plays guard then he blows them away in that regard.
He's nasty, he's extremely smart and he's a hard worker.

This was a great pick for the end of the 6th round. This guy might take Jeff Allen's job this year if he progresses quickly.

“@LaurentDTardif: Officially a Chief!!! http://fb.me/42g9DlpFU ” Looks like he has signed. Congrats.

Appears to be official.

http://arrowheadaddict.com/2014/05/1...aurent-tardif/

"Tardif signs a day after being selected 19th overall in Canadian Football League draft. He was expected to be the number one overall pick if he chose to bypass the NFL. It would appear he has chosen not to do that.

Over the Cap estimates Tardif contract to be worth slightly more than $2.3 million with a signing bonus around $100,300. The cap hit that will come in 2014 will be a very small $445,075 so keeping him on the roster while he develops won’t hurt the Chiefs cap situation.

People seem to be very high on Tardif’s potential in the NFL, predicting he’ll be the starting right tackle opposite of Eric Fisher in the next year or two. He’s noted for his athleticism and as being a mauler, and for his intelligence on the field and off the field (he is/was a medical student). If the Chiefs can walk away from this draft with two starting offensive lineman in the sixth round – Zach Fulton and Tardif – then one has to consider this draft a very good one.

Rookie mini-camp starts next week on May 24."

This was a very interesting article on him. He thinks he can start for us next year. He had the athletic ability but needed to learn the game. Coaches redshirted him.
Don't forget this name for Kansas City Chiefs guard position next year

The Kansas City Chiefs spent a 2014 sixth round pick on Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, who played football in Canada before coming to Kansas City. LDT or "Larry" as they call him has practiced at guard for the Chiefs.

When Jeff Allen had to switch to right tackle this season and when Mike McGlynn and Jeff Linkenbach were struggling while starting games, the Chiefs never went to LDT for a look-see at guard. I'm assuming the Chiefs told him this would be some sort of redshirt year for him as he made the transition to the NFL.

An interview with LDT (July 2014)
Just because he didn't play last season, don't forget his name for 2015. The media can't watch much of the practices so I'd be lying if I told you I knew how he was developing. What I can do is listen to this interview he did with CBC in Canada recently where he talks about wanting to compete for a job at guard next season.

"You think you know a lot about football but in reality you don't know much," LDT said of his rookie season with the Chiefs. "It's been a big learning curve for me. Everybody, all the coaches really helped me throughout the process. I think I really improved myself and now I think I'm a really good candidate for next year at the guard position for our team."

The early prediction on those guards would be Jeff Allen and Zach Fulton, who started 16 games as a rookie. But you never know what happens (like Allen going down for the year).

"I'm really happy about the way the coaches managed my first year in the NFL because I think I got better and now I'm a better prospect for next year," LDT said.

I'll admit that I kind of forgot about him. He's really an unknown right now but it would be very good for the Chiefs if they had more competition at guard given the fact that they were signing a new starting guard two weeks before the season.

He didn't say anything about starting. He said, "I think I'm a really good candidate for next year at the guard position for our team."

Isn't he just saying he thinks he can make the team as a guard?

Tough to tell how much the hype is desperation about the state of our O-line and legit excitement.

DaneMcCloud 01-26-2015 10:22 PM

What a terrible, terrible article.

"I'm really happy about the way the coaches managed my first year in the NFL because I think I got better and now I'm a better prospect for next year," LDT said.

That's it, that's the crux of the "article". No "starting", no starting "potential". He's a better "prospect" because he spent a year with the Chiefs.

Duh.
