I think he has way more range than is necessary for Bond, but I see your point about charisma. He has it, but it's different from past Bonds. Casting him would be going further down the Daniel Craig road of dangerous assassin from a blue collar background.

I still would rather see Elba, but his age could be an issue.

Don't know if they still sell it, but one of my very very very first DVD purchases was the Bond 10-pack. Great deal on most of the better Bond movies from the Connery/Moore era.

That's awesome. Other than his Whitney Houston cover and Stay With Me I've not heard a lot of Sam Smith. He's a little fruity, but I certainly have a great deal of respect of his ability to sing. Dude has a good voice.
