I do agree about Cain with Detwiler on the mound, though. No reason to let a lefty get into Dyson's head even more than pitchers are already in his head this year.

I actually like Butera as Guthrie's personal catcher. A la Maddux back in the day. He frames pitches so well that he's probably perfect for Guthrie. So it makes perfect sense that Sal is resting today.

Agree.

If Guthrie is bumped from the rotation when Vargas is back, let him become Vargas's personal caddy.

Butera's defensive work is pretty impressive, IMO.

I mean, *knock on wood*, but this will be two straight HUGE Guthrie starts and each time Butera has been behind the plate.

...and if Duffy can't find his command the next few starts it might be Duffy getting temporarily bumped from the rotation when Vargas gets back
