Me, too and it's my 3rd or 4th instrument.

Yeah?! Well maybe so, but can you write songs that people like to listen to?!!?!

Oh, wait... nevermind.

I said based on some of the responses I've seen, that people are just picking music they like, not necessarily the best pianists they've heard.

And that's simply the truth. I was also VERY polite about it. Way more polite than the average football disagreement between posters on this forum.

Ok I stand corrected.

For the record, I am not a classical pianist nor was I classically trained.

I grew up on a Hammond M3, which is a self-contained version of the Hammond B3, the grand daddy of all blues and rock organs.

My wife is a classically trained pianist that won a ton of competitions as a teenager in northern California.

But she can only play by sheet music, can't play by ear and doesn't compose music.

Ha! No thanks.

Meta data is embedded in my files and that would not end well...

My favorite composer and I like Anna Fedorova for many reasons.

Eric Carmen ripped off Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto #2 for his seminal hit All By Myself. You hear just a tickle of it right about 2:15, then the full theme in the second movement at about 13:30.

Alicia de Larrocha was my Moms favorite pianist and this was played over and over on the RCA console growing up. When your a kid you roll your eyes go to the basement and play The Stones but I really liked it to.

Love some Billy Joel, but Ronnie Milsap would be my favorite, in this.

Much like Gary Moore vs other guitarists... there can potentially be better players of the instrument.. maybe.. but guys like Gary and Ronnie... and Billy.. were bad-ass singers that add to the overall appreciation.

Anybody that can play a piano while being blind has an amazing world of talent, just an amazing amount of God given talent.
