they are already bleeding money because the advertisers knowing their ROI is not nearly as high as before.
They can't afford the top notch drivers like before so they just get scrubs to hold the steering wheel and finish in the top 20 if they are lucky.
Nascar died basically when Dale Earnhardt died , and I wasn't even a fan of his. But he made Nascar
The chase sucks like you said... But here is in my mind what changed Nascar
the day they changed it from a Southern sport to a National sport, closed down Hickory, North Wilkesboro , Rockingham and traded for California and others.
The same cars weren't dominate every week and the winner was the driver who had the best car setup and handling meant more than engine power.
Now everything is cookie cutter, and you can't identify the brands anymore. Toyota should have never been brought in either.
They need to make stock cars closer to stock cars again
