Missed that. Thanks.

Probably scratch Philly off.

It's not going to cause problems with the league unless his head injuries clouded his view on vax

Deberg_1990 09-01-2021 07:10 AM

Yep. Today show this am already starting the narrative that he was let go because of his anti-vax status.

Zero mention of how bad his play was.

Williskey 09-01-2021 07:29 AM

wow was expecting a huge season from him. haha

Flying High D 09-01-2021 07:43 AM

He would be ok as a backup and working for Reid.

But probably wouldn’t be better than Henne at this point.

Last season Cam looked like he had one foot in the grave. Body language said all you need to know. I was surprised the Patriots resigned Cam after his worse than poor performance last season. The guy is toast. Very similar to Le’veon Bell

FYP.

He’s a first ballot hall of faker.

I only bring this up in here as all the pundits seem to say the reason he was released was his status of vaccination.
Its understandable with the league rules, he just may not be worth the headache. The league put in rules that are different for vaccinated and unvaccinated players and Newton may not be worth to the Pats as say Beasley is to the Bills.
It seems like a Kaepernick situation brewing in a way.
Now if you say he just wasnt good enough to keep than Id probably write it off as he is older and ready to be sent off and wouldnt give it another thought.

Eh, all you've had to see was his play last year to know he was only a stopgap. I'm sure ESPTMZ would love to make this about the vaccination but I think it's mostly about the fact that he's washed.

I saw similar reporting about the Jags having taken vax status into account when making decisions. But then a couple hours later the backpedaling started and they claim no player was release because of their vax status.

This shit is getting out of hand.

And how ridiculous is the NFL policy?

Strict protocols for unvaccinated players, but if you're vaccinated and you happen to be exposed to someone with covid, you don't need to quarantine.

Even tho we know the vaccinated can still spread the vid.

My read is that Cam isn't even relevant to the decision to start Mac, but he may have been relevant to getting cut.

Belichick, it seems, saw things he liked in Mac to be aggressive in the draft. And then he set metrics he wanted to and did see in TC. At that point Cam would had to have just blown everyone's door's off to overcome that coaching dynamic. BB was ready to rock and roll with his handpicked field general, and nothing was gonna deter that outside injury or either a blockbuster performance from Cam or disastrous performance from Mac.

Now, once that news was broken to Cam, who knows if BB told Cam outright he was getting cut, or if Cam said he didn't want to be a backup, or what specifically.

Cowherd has been saying the same thing. He claims inside sources that told him when you add it all up his vax position was the final straw.

Clickbait lazy reporting. "Like, oh mah gawd, Becky, did you know Cam Newton got fired because (insert bullshit clickbait nonsense)".

Sure, it generates attention (clicks), but it is infuriatingly shallow and stupid. Cam Newton ultimately got canned because he is a prima donna with limited talent and no upside. On top of that he is a distraction. No one needs that crap. Transcendent talent allows one to overlook his nonsense... he doesn't have transcendent talent anymore (if he ever had it to begin with).
