I don't miss cigarettes at all. I do miss cigars - some guy was smoking a really nice cigar at the bus stop last night and I moved downwind just so I could breathe it in. Alas, I'm an all-or-nothing smoker, so cigars are part of the past. |

You could tell your doctor your depressed and ask for Wellbutrin to get your insurance to pay for it, if that’s what your worried about. It’s actually an antidepressant that works very well for quitting also. Thing I noticed about it was, it didn’t help with my cravings any but I was in a good mood. That was actually a big part of it for me because the few times I tried cold turkey, I turned into an asshole. |

Keep it up ladies.
Haven't smoked since April 2007. It use to never bother me when I saw a chick smoke but now it's totally different. I could think they are attractive until I see that cig in their hand. The sad thing is I know a couple girls that hate smoking but do it because it looks "cool" at the bar. |
I haven't smoked a cigarette in a long, long time. I still enjoy a cigar on occasion and I used to chew Nicorettes until I dropped some on a new carpet. And, unlike Mr. frazod, I really don't have a problem with cigars. I can smoke a cigar and still have no desire whatsoever for a cigarette. Two totally different deals, to me.

its almost my break I really want a Marlboro Red |
I still hate the bar bans, but the Chicago ban probably saved my ass a couple of months ago. I got hammered at the office Christmas party and then we went out to some River North bar and I got even more hammered. I was drunk and shooting pool at a bar and goddamn I wanted a cigarette, but I wasn't about to go stand outside to smoke one.

Now, it's been just over two years since I quit. I used a drug that didn't contain any nicotine, it works on the sensors of the brain. It's by prescription only, it's called Chantax. I got it in December 2006 and I was off cigarettes in 5 days. I was as die-hard a smoker as anyone could be, in fact I didn't want to quit because I enjoyed smoking. My wife, who quit two years earlier, asked if I would try this new drug. |

smoked for 9 years, quit when I realized that it will screw up my health.. I guess the most important factor is to stay away from smokers, once yours system adjusts to the new situation, then you can watch people smoke and not get boned up over it. |
I quit cold turkey almost 3 weeks ago and nobody has died yet so If I can do it, so can you.
|
Today I've decided to quit for the 2nd time in my 3 years of smoking a pack a day. The first time, I quit for 5 days without any cravings whatsoever but decided I enjoyed smoking way too much to quit. This time I'm pretty determined to kick the habit for good.
The thing I found the hardest was not having those little breaks you could always look forward to no matter what you were doing. It's definitely ALL about willpower though. Just gotta man the **** up and do it, I guess. |
Fatzod and his beautiful wife have a smoking problem...doesnt surprise me one bit.ROFL
As for smoking goes, I have no clue why people start doing it. Its terrible for you and has really no benefits at all. |

Neither one of us has smoked in 3 1/2 years, you ****ing moron. Perhaps you'd comprehend things better if you weren't trying to read while sucking dick. |

Over Christmas this year while trying to enjoy being with all four kids it hit me that if I didn't quit smoking and lose weight I would never see the youngest get to be the age of the oldest (those of you who remember ex Ms. Llama and our story remember we had twins almost 4 years ago) I went on the Chantix (the dreams were tolerable) and by day seven even if I wanted a cigarette, the damn thing tasted like shit and provided no enjoyment. In the last month I've been through all my former smoking triggers.... driving long distances, driving short distances, waking up, going to bed, sex, idiots that I manage, idiots that I don't manage, drinking socially, drinking binge-ingly, being around smokers, being around militant non smokers, being in smoking bars, going back to Warrensburg and the bars that I owned / worked in, etc... no cigarette, and no desire to have one. There is a pack of Marlboro Ultra Lights that I have in the glove compartment of the Jeep that I bought as a crutch if necessary on my quit day. Has not even been opened. On a side note, my sense of smell is beginning to be annoying :p I will never be a militant non smoker because I understand the addiction, but being in a non smoking area and smelling a smoker walk by (work, the gym, wal mart) is almost enough to make me puke... Not only the smokers, but I swear things that I couldn't smell for the last twenty years are now overwhelming (including Mrs. Llama's gas) LMAO |
Nnnnnnooooooooooooooooooo dont, it sucks after...
|
Smoked herb from 19 to 33 quit that took up cigs from 33 to 48, quit cigs on 3-21-08 and have not had a single one in 10 months now.
Lucky in many ways... |
Four years, no cigarettes.
I think I'll celebrate by having a cigar later. :D |

I'm going to celebrate on your behalf Frazod by walking into a restaurant and lighting one up. Then I'm going to blow that smoke into the face of a child.

This thread had alot to do with my success.... Thanks for starting it Frazod.... |
I quit March 17 2006...
I started back around late Feb. 2009.... I quit for 1 month from Jun 27 to july 27.. and I am still smoking... :( IDK if I really want to quit anymore.... |
I to would love to quit, I heard Chantix (spelling may be wrong) is good, I have been told this by several people here at work. One person said it made her sick but she didn't have the craving. She said you take 1/2 a pill for 2 weeks and smoke the 2 weeks, then after that you quit smoking and go to a whole pill. She said she didn't have a craving and could have quit but the pill itself made her sick.
I am thinking of trying it, although it is said to make some have suicidal and homicidal thoughts. So I am still thinking..... |
anyone who has quit tobacco after years of use has homicidal thoughts I can assure you.

Cigarettes are over $6 a pack here, totally not worth it.

I'm officially through the first 48-hrs of quitting and this sucks. I've been smoking since I was 15 and I'm 30 now. There was about a year and a half in there where I was smoke-free. I had a traumatic experience and lit up immediately afterwards and have been smoking since then (about 6 years of my total time).

Do any of you guys who quit smoking have dreams where you smoke and you wake up in a panic OR have dreams where you smoke and later in the day or the next day feel like you cheated?
|
Anyways last cigarette I had was on March 4th, when I got drunk and had 1, and I hadn't had one for a week before that.
Longest I've ever gone without smoking a single cigarette since I was 17. |
Try the electronic ones...

I usually use the French Vanilla Coffee, but sometimes use cappacino, french toast, blueberry, and menthol. depends on my mood. I'll admit, it's nice to have and use the ecig, but there does feel like something missing compared to a regular cig. It curbs my craving for a cig though. |
this is the next fight. Ill need someone to lock me in the basement and unlock me after the weekend is over.
|
I quit 3/17/2006 - That lasted appx 2.5 years...
I picked up the habit again at that point and was smoking ever since... Now today I had my last Cig on my way to work... and I am going to try again I have some Snus left over and I am using that to deal with the cravings for now, but once thats all gone its going to be cold turkey. Wish me luck compadres |

good deal. good luck. I just completed 2 months w/ no chew. |
i'm trying to quit gradually, i was smoking 2 packs per day and currently at half pack.
next i'll go down to 5 smokes and i'll be ready to quit. this method worked once for me, stayed quit for almost two years. |
I honestly like the patch. I'm not committed enough to quit smoking forever, but I do like to take a week or two off from smoking, and the patch gets me through it with relative ease. I smoke about 2 packs per day when I'm smoking regularly.
Also, if you sleep with the patch on it will give you really weird, vivid dreams. Kinda fun for me personally. |

I have been seriously considering to give quitting another try. I need to... I have no energy and just feel like crap. I think once the holidays are over, I'm going to try the e-cigs. Btw, congrats to those that have quit and those that are on their way to being smoke-free! :thumb: |

You can quit as a new years resolution. If it fails, try again the next year, heh. |

Have not smoked excessively, but can relate by chewing tobacco. It has hard to go coldy all at once, the best method I have found is weaning oneself off. Al the best.
