Pleasant surprise this morning, scale showed me under 220. I'd been plateaued around 223/4 for a while. Started the year @227.

I'm not fat enough to really care and it's winter so I tend to hibernate and enjoy being lazy. As soon as it warms up it will be go, go, go. I used to hate winter, now it's a time to recharge the batteries.

You realize you can still hibernate, eat right and lose weight, right?

Yep. I weighed in at 179 this morning, down from 187 - and i've exercised maybe 4 times so far.

The beer factor is the difference for me, I gain a few pounds in the winter and lose it as soon as I get active when the weather turns nice.

Titty Meat 02-08-2015 01:47 PM

Going to workout hungover. This should be fun.

Congratulations on your progress! You can still eat your spaghetti, just modify your portions and make up for it with high levels of activity.

I've never bought into the notion that you can't have what you enjoy. Just know what it is and how much is a reasonable amount. And keep moving!

Is this doing the diet you posted in here? I still can't find it....

philfree 02-12-2015 12:40 PM

I made it through the winter with only gaining about 5lbs back of the 30lbs I lost since April so that's not to bad. I've been steady workouts since the 1st week of Nov. and have strengthened myself pretty good but I haven't been watching my intake as good. I'm 207.8lbs today and my goal is to lose 12lbs to 15lbs. I like to get down to 195lbs or so. Of course if I get there I probably want to lose a little more.

The Vitamix ships on Friday, so I am hoping that will jumpstart a radical diet change.

I see a new Dr. on Friday for a check up (insurance changed)--my old one was wanting me to drop at least 100 pounds, and that was when I was weighing 280-285.

I am not even sure what my first weight goal should be.....25 pounds? 50 pounds?

On a good note, things are going really well with my work--but because of that, I am doing some travelling over the next 3-4 months, and will be gone 3-4 days a week--so I have to figure out how to get on a diet track and travel.

Definitely feeling lost at the moment--going to start getting veggies and fiber in me via the Vitamix, cut back on other food, and see where it goes, but I think I need a more concrete plan.

For myself I like to have a goal weight, but my actually goal is one under the multiple of 5's. So for you I'd say your first goal should be 294, then 289. It is less overwhelming, and if you have a bad month, you can pick right back up and shoot for the under 4 or 9.

Yes,just simply cutting out most carbs and treating myself once a week without going too crazy. If you want to lose faster stay under 20 carbs a day without treating yourself a couple of months and then gradually add a few carbs.I did this about 10 years ago and dropped 81 lbs in 10 months.

Titty Meat 02-12-2015 04:28 PM

You've losted 10 pounds since the beginning of the year?

Bufkin 02-12-2015 04:29 PM

Weighed in at 213 this morning at the doctor. Mainly been sticking to eggs and sugar free oatmeal for breakfast, grilled chicken salad with green beans for lunch, and fish and mushrooms for supper. I'll then run at the gym for an hour, and finish the night off with a protein bar and some tomato juice.

7 pounds in a month, I'll take it.

That's the problem, I'm miserable. I mean it's working, but I'm to the point where when I think of fish and grilled chicken, I get sick. I'm gonna stick with it all year because I know it's what I need, but I can't tell you how much I miss soda. I was a huge addict, and to give it up cold turkey has been a huge struggle.

Bufkin 02-12-2015 04:45 PM

What are some other low calorie meal ideas? I've never dieted before, so frankly, I'm basing my meals off of what I've read to be good. For instance, grilled chicken breast is filling, low carb, not terribly high in calories, and is lean protein. Mix in some lettuce, balsamic vinaggerete dressing, and green beans, and you have a healthy meal.

Still sucks though. :(

Personally I do low carb, yeah I don't get bread and potatoes but I still eat a lot of good shit, bacon, sausage, eggs, low carb pizza bowls, salads with real dressing, peanut butter, fried chicken and taco salads.

Oh and when I first went on it my doc was not to thrilled until 6 months later when my cholesterol was lower than it's ever been.

Bad week, but still down overall.

NewChief 02-24-2015 10:35 AM

I need to weigh this week. Was at 192 last week after a bunch of snow days where I drank too much. Took my son to Eureka Springs last weekend for his birthday which involved eating a lot. Back on it for the final push to 180 over the next month. Time to crack down.

Titty Meat 02-24-2015 10:37 AM

Starting to get 1700 calories a day with ease now

The Franchise 02-24-2015 10:38 AM

I dropped 12 pounds in the first month on a keto diet and then life got hectic....and ended up off of keto for about 2 weeks. Luckily I only gained back about 2 lbs. Weighed myself this morning and I'm down to 243. So 17 lbs so far in a little under 2 months.

Nzoner 02-24-2015 04:13 PM

Just wanted to mention to you low carb folks that our CiCi's pizza has a great new salad bar AND they offer what they call a low carb bowl which is a foil bowl that they put whatever ingredients you want in and bake.

I've been getting sausage, ham, beef, onions, mushrooms, cheese and marinara sauce and managing the weight.

Not bad.

That's why I go to Chipotle. Lettuce, steak, sour cream, cheese and guac only comes out to like 4-5 carbs for the entire thing.

Be careful with Chipolte. I did some quick research over the weekend. Not as good for you as some people think. Their food is loaded with sodium. I know for a fact that little doesn't fill you up. I always have to get extra chicken. Now I stopped eating there all together. Doesn't fill me up and it's not that great for you

Titty Meat 02-26-2015 08:42 PM

Yogurtini Lite Boston cream pie is the best ****ing dessert out there! Only 90 cals and 10g of sugar.

Titty Meat 02-28-2015 09:18 AM

This isn't a good sign if you fatties are too lazy to weigh in.

238. March means nicer weather hills/stairs hoping to lose 10 pounds this month

Goal weight- 190

A little late to the party but I'm excited to track this. I lost 10lbs this month so actually started at 275

KC native 03-02-2015 10:26 AM

196 this morning.

Still haven't been really trying to keep calories super low but staying under 1800 most days. The occasional adderal as a study aid for the CFA has helped knock off the last couple of pounds.

The Franchise 03-02-2015 10:35 AM

Down to 243 as of March 1st. Ended up out of keto for 2 weeks because I was busy as hell and didn't want to add a diet on top of it. Still lost 5 lbs in the 2 weeks that I was back on though.

In58men 03-02-2015 11:36 AM

261 as of this morning. No diet needed, eating more healthier and smaller portions. Every now and then I'll have some Hot Cheetos and a cold pop.

It is going really slowly. It's pretty frustrating.

Nzoner 03-03-2015 08:00 AM

24lbs. down to 217,just had a small sirloin steak with two runny eggs and a little Heinz 57.I love me some steak coated in 57 and egg yolk.

OnTheWarpath15 03-03-2015 08:06 AM

193.

Not bad considering I didn't start until the end of January, and haven't incorporated any exercise. Time to get off my ass and lose another 10.

CaliforniaChief 03-03-2015 12:07 PM

I weighed in yesterday at 253. That's down 20 from my starting weight for the year.

The big win was getting down 2 pounds while out of town for the week with my mom for her open heart surgery. Staying in a hotel, being stressed, having to eat at restaurants, out of routine and still dropping was a huge win for me. I just wanted to maintain.

BTW, I wanted to let you guys know that I started a website to help people who were similarly obese as I was, to give inspiration, information, and some entertainment. If anyone wants it, they can PM me.

NewChief 03-03-2015 12:17 PM

I'll weigh this afternoon. I'm not expecting much loss, as I ate and drank to excess during the snow days.

Frosty 03-03-2015 01:47 PM

I had my six week follow up with my doctor yesterday and he seemed thrilled with my whopping 5 pound loss since I saw him last time. I find it highly frustrating but he reminded me that with low thyroid and low test, losing weight is going to be extremely difficult.

Yeah - tell me about it.

Does calorie counting actually work? For instance, if you ate 6 jelly filled donuts at 250 calories apiece for a 1,500 calorie total every day, wouldn't you hypothetically lose weight? Especially if you worked out 30 minutes a day.

Yes, it works. If your TDEE was 2000 cals/day, and you ate your 6 jelly donuts (and nothing else) you would lose a pound a week. If you work out, you will lose slightly more. We are talking strictly weight loss, no reference to how shitty your body composition would be eating that.

Thanks Clay. I'm certainly not saying I would try to lose weight eating nothing but shit, I was just wondering. People make it seem like you can only eat healthy foods, but if calorie counting is effective, it would be more quantity right? Essentially, you could eat whatever the hell you want as long as it's below your TDEE.

I can never find the pics though. It's the OP's diet though.

Sometimes he'd eat something really cool, like a a pork loin meal or something, and other days it'd be a big fast food burger.

Surprisingly, I was down to 188 (4 lbs down from last weigh in, 12 pounds down total, though , once again I think my starting weight was probably 205, not 200). That leaves me 3 weeks to knock off the final 8 lbs to hit target. That final 5 will be a real pain to get off, but we'll see. I haven't given up hope, yet.
