Eh he is definitely great at playing Thor (he was born to play that role) but mostly all of his other films are huge box office flops (Men in Black reboot, Ghostbusters reboot, In the Heart of the Sea and the biggest flop being Michael Mann's Blackhat which was universally panned and was a huge box office flop. It didn't even make $20 million worldwide at the box office on a $70+ million dollar budget). That is pathetic)
No one seems to give a shit about Hemsworth when he isn't playing Thor.

He did a Netflix action film last year where he played a burned out merc hired to save a kid in Thailand, I think. Some pretty phenomenal action sequences in it, worth a look.

I haven't seen any of those, but Rush was fantastic. Bruhl's performance was amazing, but Hemsworth was really good.

Has absolutely anybody had as much fun with the MCU as Hulu?

First that amusing MODOK show, now this. Do they have a contract with Disney/Marvel to do just asinine crap?

Patiently bracing for Rausch's impact.

I doubt that they can properly tell this story within the limited constraints of the MCU, unless they obviously come up with a completely new story. Which I'm guessing they will. Which I'm guessing will piss Rausch off royally.

Classic list, though I have never been much of a fan of Hulk or Fantastic Four. I will say that World War Hulk was one of the most badass characters in fiction and the F4 property carries Dr. Doom and Silver Surfer who are both pretty cool.

I'd have to say it'd go 1) Spider-Man 2) X-Men 3) Batman for me, which is almost assuredly due to the fact that I grew up watching those three cartoons in the 90's.

When I was growing up there just wasn't much good media on Iron Man, Thor, etc. so I thought they were kind of lame. Now, like most everyone else, I think Iron Man is pretty awesome thanks to RDJ's depiction and the same with Hemsworth's Thor.

This more or less confirms she’s gonna be the lead.

Jamie 11-08-2021 01:24 PM

Shuri becoming Black Panther is the least interesting option to me. I thought they might do something like Shuri realizing she's not cut out for it, and Okoye or M'Baku takes over. Really the more time that's passed, I think they probably just should have recast T'Challa. Obviously I get why they didn't, but it's such a shame to waste that character.

ThaVirus 11-08-2021 01:42 PM

M'Baku would be my first choice, though it would be pretty cool if they were to bring him in somehow as a snowy ape-themed hero. I wish it wouldn't be super lame for them to Multiverse it up and bring in a decent version of Killmonger.

Also, I hadn't considered how they're going to kill off T'Challa in the MCU..

It absolutely makes the most sense for Nakia to assume the banner.

Shuri already has a gig, she's the new Tony Stark gadget end-around for all plot points.

M'Baku is a fantastic character, but it's problematic for a franchise whose top three actors aside from Boseman are all women and the franchise had to find a man for them to all rally around instead of any of them individually. I know some will hate that political answer, but it's very real.

They've showed over and over again how Okoye is dedicated to the Dora Milaje.

Nakia is largely unmoored in the absence of T'Challa, but has shown some fighting ability, is a spy, and has the mantle of T'Challa as a sort-of beau rolling around in the back of her mind. Plus Nakia's actress is possibly the best in the MCU.

Yup.

The basis of the story is all of Hulk's "friends" give up on him living a normal life and ship him off to a planet he has no way home from. Hulk has adventures and learns that might doesn't make right (long story short, excellent story, read it.) Hulk is finally happy - then something happens that ruins it all and he heads back to earth for revenge.

They've already ruined the setting in the Thor movie so that's out. Based on current events Hulk is now an American hero so I see no way he becomes hated and feared over night. Plus something bad enough has to happen that Banner hates his friends more than Hulk does. With current events I don't see how that happens.

As much as I'd love to see this movie I'm worried about 2 things:

1) Its time has passed. There was a great opportunity and they opted out. I hate to admit that but it's true.

2) Politics. Instead of a story about morality, mercy, and change it will become about politics.

I can't recommend Planet Hulk or WWH enough. They start off like boring cliched stories but really gear up. I missed them when they came out and borrowed my copies from Kim.com but they're worth the price...

Just thinking out loud:

I'm not sure how much sense the Netflix Punisher makes in the proper MCU, given that Hawkeye was basically that character as Ronin.

Luke Cage and Jessica Jones would make a ton of sense in the proper MCU. Both are fantastic, flawed characters grounded with outstanding actors, and both offer perspectives that no other current MCU protagonist offers.

Iron Fist doesn't seem like a good fit, however, given how weak the actor is and the success of Shang Chi anyway.

Punisher doesn’t need to fit in the proper MCU, they just need to get and keep his series back up and running.

The rumor is that even when they're using the same actors, the characters are being rebooted into the MCU and the Netflix shows aren't MCU canon.

I'm still a big fan. I just don't have as much to talk about when we're largely in exposition territory rather than the point where we're discussing theories and predictions about where they're going.

Bowser 12-08-2021 08:41 AM

The What If? show served a second purpose as well - it introduced the thought of different universes with the same characters after Loki showed how the multiverse had fractured and was beginning to overlap. No Way Home is going to take all that buildup and apply it into a story that will shape the MCU going forward. IMHO, of course.

The Phase 2-3 movies were always fun (in addition to them being very good movies) because they always dropped nuggets in them to tease for future episodes. Phase 1, really, was just about them establishing characters.

Phase... whatever we're in right now seems to be a return to Phase 1. We're getting Shang Chi, we're getting the Eternals, we're getting introduced to all kinds of characters and building worlds around them before we start to cross it all over, I think. That does mean these movies are more straightforward, like they were in Phase 1.

Just a theory.

Rumors circulating that Letitia Wright (Shuri) is trying to get out of the MCU asap.

Largely due to her refusal to vaccinate, though the injuries she’s sustained seem to be more serious than initially believed/reported.

Honestly? Fine. Recast her.

Her role is invaluable to the MCU. Just recast her.

Largely due to her refusal to vaccinate, though the injuries she’s sustained seem to be more serious than initially believed/reported.

Honestly? Fine. Recast her.

Her role is invaluable to the MCU. Just recast her.

Zazie Beetz is a perfect fit for the MCU anyway.

Her stance is real heroism.

Take notes, Evans.

Disney didn't want mature titles on Disney plus. So all adult mcu goes on Hulu.

Didn't see the last ten seconds of that episode coming, like at all. Perfect timing with No Way Home kicking off today. Genuinely stoked.

I really thought the Hawkeye series was entertaining but damn, that conclusion stunk.

They set up too many plot threads and couldn’t deliver on hardly any of them. I have so many beefs.

This Marvel TV experiment is better produced but still similar in quality to the Netflix-verse. Some outstanding and hair-raising moments, but also some of the most bone-headed stuff the MCU has churned out.

I don't think they really intended to. This seemed like more of a jumpoff series designed to set up the stories of several characters going forward. That's ultimately the "curse" of a lot of these shows. They're not really designed to be self-contained stories as much as they are vehicles to push the greater universe forward.

unlurking 12-26-2021 01:37 PM

Yup, they are setting up Young Avengers. This has been talked about for years.

Charlie's version of Matt Murdoch was amazing, and Murdoch's three-minute cameo in No Way Home was fantastic and one of my personal favorite parts. They should absolutely write him into future shows, especially Spider Man movies now that Parker isn't Iron Man Jr. and a very much unknown character again, just roaming around Queens fighting crime. Would love to see them incorporate all the Netflix Marvel characters in at some point, really.

Ms Marvel series trailer dropped. Looks awful. Like Disney channel hocum.

Fish 03-16-2022 09:40 AM

Yeah, I saw the Ms. Marvel trailer yesterday. Yikes. Super woke pandering. Didn't bother posting it...

Direckshun 03-21-2022 02:19 PM

I don't think they nailed the casting of Kamala.

Why didn't they just roll with, like, Lou Llobell of Apple TV's "Foundation"? She'd kill in that role.

The only good Miss Marvel rendition was in the animated series Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

That show was amazing. It nailed every character.

Seeing Daredevil and (most of) The Defenders do a team up with Holland's Spidey would be amazing on the big screen, especially since now nobody remembers Spider Man.

Jesus -- have the Venom movies really done that well at the box office?

A third movie?

I enjoyed them. They aren't great or anything, but serviceable. With Venom showing up in Spiderman, I'm guessing they see that as a way to bring them together at some point.

ThaVirus 04-27-2022 11:46 AM

Venom is easily the most popular Spider-Man villain with the kids so they'll milk that one for all it's worth
