Just saw that on ESPN. Holy crap. Lucky no one was injured/killed.

Megatron96 04-07-2023 06:14 PM

Come on, Tiger. Get hot tomorrow, please. just make the cut. Want to watch you over the weekend in honor of my dad.

scho63 04-07-2023 07:57 PM

39 players still need to finish the 2nd round and then the cut will be made. That's almost 1/2 the field.

Really ****ed up that guys will sit around not knowing if they will need to play in round 3 or go home. Then some guys finishing round 2 may need to turn around and go right back out or finish early and wait a long time.

Hope TV or internet coverage is much better tomorrow cause the last two days have been horrible. Too much bullshit and too little live golf.

PHOG 04-08-2023 07:09 AM

On ESPN and its light rain.

BWillie 04-08-2023 07:47 AM

Tiger gonna choke. Hit an absolute putrid drive on #18 after bogeying 17. I think the rain and cold will be too much for his knee and back.

PHOG 04-08-2023 07:56 AM

Yep, as it stands now, Tiger would be out. Projected cut at +2.

displacedinMN 04-08-2023 08:13 AM

raining like a cow peeing on a flat rock this morning

Garcia Bronco 04-08-2023 08:34 AM

Keopka's going to have some knee problems when he gets back out there. These conditions are brutal on the mind body spirit in a golf match.

BWillie 04-08-2023 09:08 AM

Rahm hit a 240 yard center laced drive on 18.

See what it's like assholes when you don't have dry fairways rolled away from you to get max roll all the time.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-08-2023 09:56 AM

Oosthuizen quit rather than come back and play the 18th this morning. Can't say I'm surprised-- he's the same chickenshit that laid up from the rough on a par 5 when down two to Rahm on the 72nd hole of the US Open. Just another guy who cares more about cashing checks than taking a risk to win.

Higher tv ratings you see.

KC_Connection 04-08-2023 11:24 AM

The Masters apparently chose not to include the leaders as a Featured Group this afternoon, which means the first anybody will see of them is the start of network coverage at 3. You’d think this kind of nonsense would have ended when they stopped putting replays of every single shot of every player in the field online but it hasn’t.

suzzer99 04-08-2023 12:05 PM

You can watch holes 4,5,6 on the masters app.

Not showing the leaders is an absolute joke.

JT went from -2 to +4 in 9 holes to miss the cut.

He has sucked in the last year. His putting and chipping has been awful.

If I had Jordan Speith or Patrick Reeds short game and putting it would drop my scoring avg by at least 9. Its incredible the feel these guys have. I would have 45 putts on 13 stimped greens

They got through enough holes today so they could easily finish all of it by tomorrow evening. I imagine that was the plan all along.

Interesting time to stop, though, with a potential 2 shot swing between Koepka and Rahm on 7.

The 7th green was completely waterlogged. My guess is during that delay they told the leaders that they were about to stop play anyway in the next 5-10 minutes so they didn't have to putt.

KC_Connection 04-08-2023 01:23 PM

Also CBS got completely screwed by the Masters' decisions today. Got a whole 10 minutes of coverage. LMAO

I'll give you a complete OPPOSITE with super DRY conditions.

The very first time I came to AZ to play golf was 1997. I played Troon North in Scottsdale.

I hit at least 6-7 shots into the brush off the fairway. As I went looking for my ball I would lean in or reach in to look near bushes. At the time they looked harmless.

By the time my round was over I had over 50 scratch marks, dried blood in several locations and 20-25 sharp needles stuck in my ankles and socks from jumping cholla. They have a slimy texture and barb like spines that make getting them out very tough.

No one EVER warned me about desert golf in shorts.

The future of sports is more access, not less. If the Masters sticks to their guns (and no reason to think they won't), there will also only be live coverage of Amen Corner and 15-16 for the Koepka/Rahm group's R3 tomorrow morning. Probably will miss a few holes to start R4 as well.

Masters did allow ESPN to resume second-round coverage at 7 a.m. CDT today. I'd imagine it will do the same with CBS and third-round coverage. But instead of cutting it off after the third round, the Masters should just allow CBS to go right into the fourth round, instead of having the window with only online coverage.

Or more likely, he’s just old, broken and done.

The guy’s leg was completely shattered and then surgically repaired and he can’t move/walk like he once did or swing anywhere near the same speed he did before that happened, but why let facts get in the way of a good narrative?

Twitter fans voicing pretty negative comments. They are richly deserved.

The WORST coverage of any golf event in my lifetime, let alone the most watched Major.

The PGA has nothing to do with it. If they had their way the entire thing would probably be on TV. Heck I'd bet the LIV guys probably would push for that too. Augusta does what it wants and nobody is going to cross them.

Shame on the PGA for getting steamrolled by Augusta.

If they had any input at all, the LIV guys wouldn't be there. I'm not sure there's another thing in sports like Augusta. Even CBS and ESPN are billion dollar companies and they have zero pull with Augusta. They do and say whatever Augusta wants. If Augusta doesn't like something the network does, or something an announcer says, they are done. They basically have one year contracts every year, Augusta can pull the plug on them anytime. It's probably why the TV announcers have avoided talking much about the LIV/PGA rivalry.

Every single thing about this event is what Augusta wants. Here's a good article about it. As long as they're the most prestigious golf tournament with the biggest ratings I doubt anything will ever change.

Augusta told Dwight Eisenhower to **** himself when he asked about the tree on 17. They DGAF.

And people complaining about TV coverage of the Masters have no idea what it used to be like. They have every final round on their YouTube channel. Go and watch the difference in coverage pre-2000. You hardly even see the leaders before 9.

I recall very clearly what it used to be like. But there's no excuse for the Masters to not be broadcasting the first 7 holes of the leaders yesterday when they are already showing every shot of every player online. Whatever argument they may have had for doing so expired once they started doing that over the past decade.

Times have changed and they've actually adapted in some ways but not others.

During the 70's and 80's, TV coverage was VERY different and there was no social media.

Things adapt over time and change for the better.

Maybe we should broadcast the Masters in black and white from the 10th hole to make some of you purists happy that they are keeping with tradition and the Masters way.

On a side note, surprised the crazies haven't gone after Augusta to change the name from "The Masters".

The protests (as it was) for changing the name already happened. 2020 I think. Mostly in print. If there were actual protests, you’d never know as the Masters keeps the lid on tight.

Their first black player in the tournament was Lee Elder in 75. That discussion took place the year they were going to honor Lee Elder.

Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm, Viktor Hovland and Patrick Cantlay in the final two groupings. It doesn't get much better than that, four greats.

One of them is going to get their first green jacket and it will be a life changer even for a guy with four majors like Koepka.

scho63 04-09-2023 10:20 AM

Hovland just missed that final long putt on 18 or else he would have been in the final group. He played great and if he gets it going again later, he could sneak by and win.

The coverage today was 100% better and they should plenty of other guys.

I hope it's close

One of them is going to get their first green jacket and it will be a life changer even for a guy with four majors like Koepka.

Patrick Cantlay may be even more boring that Sheffler and my god that is hard to do.

Cantlay says you need to mark it.

I'm not sure they will have time to finish the round. Last 3-4 groups gonna have trouble, especially if any overcast.

I would think they told the golfers that they have to keep the game moving if that would do much good.

Past winner maybe?

Right now I'm watching two different feeds of the game on two 60 plus inch TVs. I'm streaming a feed on ESPN Plus via Hulu and I'm watching the main broadcast over the air on rabbit ears. More coverage laughing my ass off.

Started on back nine instead of hole 1.
