I was working at the Mid-Continent Public Library in Blue Springs when we won it all in 1985. I cannot describe my excitement when the Sports Illustrated finally showed up. The old biddies at the front desk even told me I could take a break and go read it in the back.

Then they fired me for goofing off like a week later (I think they may have realized I spent all my free time looking for nudity in the books on the shelves). But I will never forget the moment that SI came in.

Who's cutting onions in here?!?

Salvy is the best. The heart of the team. He was taking so many selfies today and so many fan interactions compared to his teammates. It doesn't speak negatively to his teammates, but the strength of Salvy's kindness and character.

Thinking about the Royals lineup today. It wasn't too many years ago that we'd get all excited when our #3 or #4 hitter would come to the plate because that was our shot to see a hit of some sort. Now, if our #3 or #4 don't produce, it doesn't really matter. Hitters 5-9 are quality bats. It's really amazing.

The most interesting part, to me, is that we'll be deciding whether or not to give our #8 hitter a $100 million deal.

Assuming my math is correct, Ned Yost was dangerously close to having a postseason record of 1-4. Instead, he's 22-9.

Ned needs about two more seasons of 90+ win baseball to earn a record greater than .500 as a manager.

I kind of want him to get it. Resurrecting the ****ing Brewers and Royals AND finishing with a .500+ record is no small feat.

I'm not following the math here at all. How was he even remotely close to 1-4?

Lose to Oakland last year 0-1
Lose game 4 to Houston 1-3 this year.

Ok. I just thought it was interesting how significant the shift was. Winning those two games changed our fortunes incredibly.

If "if" was a fifth we'd all be drunk.
