Golf Fans Were Livid About Masters Coverage at Start of Third Round
https://www.si.com/golf/news/masters...nd-tv-coverage |
This is getting real good now as 4-5 guys charging towards leaders.
|
Took Rahm / Koepka group 2 1/2 hours to complete front nine. They will be finishing at sunset.
|
Good for Mickelson.
|
I'm rooting for Phil to win the Green Jacket and pull a Hollywood Hulk Hogan immediately afterward. I'm talking about spray painting LIV on the jacket and then telling all the fans to stick it.
|
Rahm is pudgy he needs to go on a diet

Koepka fading?
|
Rahm and Koepka are two of the fastest players on tour and are stuck waiting 3-4 minutes on EVERY shot.

Kinda was rooting for Koepka. He's had a hard road recently.
|
Rahm with a great shot there
|
Welp
|
Really hate to see douche canoe piss his chance away today.

Victor Hovland reminds me of Benicio Del Toro.
|
Brooks Kupkake.
Those LIV boys had a moment to shine and fizzled. |
Uh - oh hitting a provisional?

Greg Norman can collapse (as usual) on the champagne he had waiting.
|
73-75 is some Lee Westwood energy.
|
Rahm is in much better control of his emotions than he once was. It's put him over the top.
|
Top 12 and ties invited back to the 2024 Masters
Almost all of them already had exemptions. Gary Woodland missed it by a stroke. 1. Jon Rahm 2T. Phil Mickelson 2T. Brooks Koepka 4T. Jordan Spieth 4T. Patrick Reed 4T. Russell Henley 7T. Cameron Young 7T. Viktor Hovland 9. Sahith Theegala 10T. Scottie Scheffler 10T. Matt Fitzpatrick 10T. Xander Schauffele 10T. Collin Morikawa |

Some of you guys are jealous haters and need to slow your roll. Sounding like bitter school girls. |

I would have far preferred the PGA Tour and its media to eat their words about the quality of LIV for the past year with a Koepka win but Rahm beating him is hardly a surprise. He’s been the best player in the world for a few years now and certainly has been in this spot more recently than Koepka. That very clearly showed today.
Mickelson also coming T2 thirty years after his first major top 10 (1993 PGA) is a remarkable accomplishment. Such a crazy talent level. |

How Cantlay didn’t get a penalty today, I’m not sure. |
Tiger dropped out. What a wuss. Stayed long enough to tie the record and then ran away.
|
Masters usually sucks. They invite half the field of regular tourneys and fill it with like 20 geezers. So you get crap endings like this a lot

That course with all the elevation changes is a grind on a young person walking it. He wasn't going to play a round and a half on that hilly course and in those conditions. He needs to recuperate and get ready for the British Open, a tournament he can actually win. |

I think it's the right group of players. Top 50 golfers in the world. All the tournament winners from April to March. All the recent major winners and top 4 finishers at previous majors. I could see bumping up the OWGR group from 50 to 60. I think the exclusivity is what makes it special. One of the cool things about watching a young golfer win a tour event is thinking immediately, he's going to the Masters! |

Tiger may qualify. |

I suspect Tiger would qualify given the state of his leg and I suspect the Tour would gladly let him do it. Still don't think he does it. |
Tiger won't ever win another golf tournament, get over it.

Phil did pretty well in his final 18 holes of the 72.
Looked to me like Koepka just got nervous because he hadn't been in that spot in four years and wasn't able to play his best as a result. |

I think he’s still mentally shaken. He talked about it on the series Full Swing. When he was on, he knew he wasn’t going to let a miss hit end his round. It’s tough to keep that edge when other guys are climbing the mountain and you get a nagging injury. Then you try to compensate for that and injure something else. |

The Master's website listed he withdrew due to a flareup of Plantar fasciitis. So doesn't seem it was due to the leg injuries if that was correct.

I have to brag on myself for a second. Yesterday I set a personal best round. I know most of you are better golfers than I am, but I can still hit the ball pretty well. Anyway, I shot an under-90 round for the first time in my life. 44/45-89. Also a triple-bogey free round for the firs time in 5 years.
Sorry to interrupt your PGA/LIV argument. |

It's a five-year exemption though. Gary Woodland's last year exempt is 2024. |

This RBC Heritage Tournament has been fantastic. My buddy bet $30 on Speith and will win $1200 if Speith wins.

Fitz hit great shots over the last 5-6 holes. Spieth just couldn't get those putts to drop.
That is a beautiful course. My buddy missed a $1200 payday on a $30 bet. That sucks! |

Brook Kupkake looking pretty steady today.
|
That was a freaking gem outta the sand from Brooks.
|
Block with a hole in one LMAO. Guy is living a fairy tale.
|
This is a very cool story for Block, but it feels like CBS is focusing on it more than they otherwise would because Brooks is walking to the title and exposing the establishment while doing it.
|
So how are you gonna keep guys like Koepka off the Ryder Cup team?
5 majors now, he's an all-time great. |
Great ending for the tourney.
Block. What a guy. |
