I'm old enough to remember what a "gas war" was.
And I don't mean invading Iraq....

Reerun_KC 10-29-2008 09:13 AM

Why do fuel prices drop at election time?

Oil exects and lobbiests get favors from republicans. So in an effort to sway voters to vote republican. They drop the prices.

Yeah, and it has nothing to do with oil going for $60 a barrel. Keep drinking that Kool-Aid kid.

I really think this recession is helping draw prices down too. Unemployment is up and gas is down. People can have nowhere to go at a cheaper rate.

Bearcat 10-29-2008 05:23 PM

Went under $2.20 today, so I figured it was under $2 in KC.... great weekend for a roadtrip before it goes back up. :)

Last I checked, demand was down more than 5% from this time last year. When you're talking about 2 million barrels a day, that's pretty significant.
And the people that bought a Prius in July are not gonna go out and buy an Escalade in November.
