Wow, the Brits look anemic. Rooney has been a complete non-factor. The only positive thing about this game is that Green was vindicated...
of course for the US they've played just as we want. |
So here are the scenarios.
England/Slovenia Tie - US/Algeria Tie -US advances as long as their goals scored in this game are no more than 1 less than England's -US does not advance if England's goals scored in this game are 3 more than the US's. England/Slovenia Tie - US Win -Slovenia and US advance England Win - US Win -US and England Advance Slovenia Win - US Win -Slovenia and US Advance Slovenia Win - US Tie -Slovenia and US Advance No other scenarios see US advance. |

I know they have been talking about not even giving the host nation an automatic bid. That is what I was thinking of. |
The US can be the #1 seed if both the US and England win, and England doesn't score 2 more goals than the US.
Also we can be the #1 seed if the US wins and Slovenia ties England, and the US scores more goals than Slovenia. |

We can make that horrible call work in our favor. We seem to work better under pressure and under the gun. Well, if we'd won today then maybe we take the next game for granted and go into the next round uninspired. Now we have something to fight for and someone to fight against...
