That is an incredibly misleading headline..it was a suggestion his dad made.

To sum it up..

He didn’t like the Bears QB history. He didn’t like Waldron. He had an interview with O’Connell and really liked his vision and what he was about and wanted to go to the Vikings. His dad told him he could shit on Chicago and get them not to draft him, but he didn’t want to do that. They explored if they could circumvent the draft. Caleb visited the Bears’ facilities and really liked them and was okay with being a Bear. Now with the new coaching staff, he’s happy to be here. The end.

Caleb Williams Apologist bullshit… Exhibit A.

His Dad acted completely independent of what his true feelings/intentions were… that is your claim?

But you are correct… it’s now “the end” for any additional excuses for Caleb Williams.

MarkDavis'Haircut 05-15-2025 01:24 PM

I don't blame the Williams clan.

Lousy franchises destroy careers.

Yet he was right considering that coaching staff did nothing for his development, they didn't even spend time with him watching film.

I blame them for being dumb enough to put this in a book after he got drafted by the Bears and is now their QB. How do you think this is going to play in Chicago?

That is really dumb.

Mecca 05-15-2025 01:31 PM

Yea lets see...book says he likes Chicago and facilities, doesn't like coaching staff especially Shane Waldron..that coaching staff is no longer there so seems like a dead issue?

And he shouldn't like that coaching staff they were liquid ass.

Sassy Squatch 05-15-2025 01:34 PM

Yeah, I dunno. Sure seems like his dad was the one really pushing for him to circumvent the draft. Could be PR though.

The GM and owner who hired them are still there, there is nothing to be gained by trashing the organization you play for.

Dude hasn't accomplished shit, why is he even writing a book?

The Bears have been a franchise for over 100 years and still have not had a QB throw for 4K yards.

I can’t blame this kid at all. Your success is tied to where you go. Mahomes is not maximized to what he has been without Andy Reid and his staff. You shouldn’t be forced to play for a dumpster fire franchise that you know won’t help you at all. Eli Manning is the best example of utilizing their power to avoid it and it was absolutely the right choice.

The Bears last coach was so godawful that the entire offense had no idea how on run a hurry up in Detroit. They fired their terrible OC bc he was not doing anything to help their rookie QB.

I do think things are looking up bc Ben Johnson is very innovative and appears to have already done things the right way. Bolstered that awful OL with proven vets and drafted really good playmakers on offense.

Caleb is in a great spot now. If he fails it’s all on him

And he is the only rookie QB to have a difficult first season with a shitty coaching staff?

How many other QB’s went crying to a reporter like this, like a bitch?

Also I am sure the NFLPA and the league will enjoy reading that his father thinks the current CBA is a “piece of shit” that is the “worst in sports history”.

A CBA that has helped power the NFL into a $10+ billion/year entity.

Which is why Crosby and Bowers need to come someplace like KC.

He didn’t write it. He’s just one of the QBs in the book.

Deberg_1990 05-15-2025 04:33 PM

Ben Johnson + Caleb Williams should be gold.

Look for a breakout Caleb year.

Why do people comment and pass judgment on these things without even taking the most trivial step in trying to gain context? Like, maybe, read the article? Writing a book? Wtf?

It’s seemed all along like he was a little spoiled, but his dad seems to have driven all of the most outlandish proposals involved with his career.

He ultimately put his foot down with his father and went to Chicago. Do y’all still hold it against Eli Manning that his dad did the same and he didn’t stand up to him?
