Why would Cincinnati want Holland. They dont appear to want to compete this year or next year.

Fitting considering all the close calls we had tonight.

They can def compete next year. But why Holland? He will cost them 10m next year. Seems pointless

Has to be Zimmer

It could be for anyone, I was just citing Zimmer as an example. I am not really sure how that works and I am not in the know, but i'd think that a player doesn't have to be on the DL to have red flags.

Clearly he doesn't just have to be on the DL. Zimmer may be the guy that caused the issue. We may have sent over his medicals and their doctors had enough concern about something that they weren't comfortable pulling the trigger.

Cueto should announce that he refuses to pitch another game for the Reds because of this. Drive his price down...

I would think if we were this close, the two sides will figure something out (crossing fingers)

Cueto just got more expensive.

KCCHIEFS27 07-25-2015 09:51 PM

Damn, I can't believe it was so close to being done that they were warming up another guy to start the game. Find another way.

tk13 07-25-2015 09:51 PM

If it was Zimmer I don't know what they're going to do. I bet Dayton is really torn if he was banking on Zimmer. He's going to have to upgrade to Manaea or Duffy, or Ventura, although he'd be crazy to send Ventura. Anyway... all for a two month rental. Brutal call to make.

ChiefsCountry 07-25-2015 09:53 PM

Well we know it probably wasn't Duffy now.

Or maybe we can do Almonte plus a lower level guy to = Zimmer

penbrook 07-25-2015 09:54 PM

Per Dave Gershman

Heard from a source with #Royals that team is still engaged in talks for #Reds Johnny Cueto, and could strike deal as early as tomorrow. 1/2

Also heard that player that stalled deal was in fact Bubba Starling, who has been tearing it up all year. Binford is a name that could go.

Edinson Volquez told me earlier that he's kept in close touch with Johnny Cueto lately and hopes that Kansas City acquires him.

doomy3 07-25-2015 09:55 PM

Very interesting. Starling wasn't even a thought in my mind. Like that better than sending one of the pitchers.
