I think there would be some interested teams but he seems to be a guy that has more value to the Royals than he would almost anywhere else. Duffy, who I absolutely could see being traded, could be a decent chip. If a team believed his wildness could be harnessed for an inning at a time, he could be a hell of a closer.

Yeah, I think the prospect of trading Escobar died the second Mondesi got suspended. Unless RA comes back from his suspension and just crushes the ball, forcing a promotion, he's not going to get regular PT at the major league level this year.
Had things gone according to plan, with Mondesi forcing his way into the everyday 2B rotation in the latter part of the summer, I could have MAYBE seen them shopping Escobar on the trade market over the winter, if they felt comfortable going with Mondesi at SS next year. Can't see that happening now.
Escobar would get similar interest as an Erick Aybar, I'd think. There are some teams that would be interested in a strong defensive SS who can run and is a good contact hitter (St. Louis, Mets, White Sox, Mariners, Padres come to mind).
Duffy would be a more valuable piece. I could see him being moved as part of a deal to bring back another change-of-scenery type with maybe a little more control.
Or, more likely, they'll just move Duffy to the pen full time and let him be. Circumstances this year had to get pretty bad to move him out of that role. I could see using him in the pen, then keeping him around after 2017 to team with Herrera and make sure the pen remains a weapon.
The real key, though, is that they're not trading any of Hosmer, Moustakas, Davis, Volquez, Cain - key/core members of this team that are free agents after next year. KC is set up to contend for a WS title again next year, and it isn't going to get enough value back for ANY of those guys to make it worth sacrificing part of their contention window.
