We had one of these games in each of the first two rounds. Game 3 against Hamels was maddening because he wasn't that good and we routinely let him off the hook. Same with Game 4 of the LCS against Wolf.
|
There was just no way we were winning this game with this zone. This cocksucking ump is giving him 8 inches inside and six inches outside.

That strike zone is an embrassment to have in the World Series.

I was really hoping we could sweek this one out tonight (still time left) with carp going tomorrow night. |

I dunno if it's because I didn't really watch the postseason intently last season or what, but the umpiring in this years playoffs has been mediocre at best. |

I don't remember ever seeing shit strike zones this bad for this long. And in the POs no less. |
Really sent Boggs back out.
Saving the pen for the rest of the series at this point. |
Well just use up Boggs so I don't have to see him again the rest of the way

WTF Westbrook? TLR saving scrabble and Dotel for tommorrow night?

Let me guess. The only people watching the game were posting on CP. Right?... ****ing reerun. |

Again, the person who can't differentiate two from three has no right calling anyone a reerun, even Kyle Boller. |

Someone only bringing up 2 ****ing pitches complaining about a strike zone should probably stop watching baseball. Holland has dominated the game so far. Grow the **** up. |
Quote:
It's not just those two pitches, anyone who has watched the game has seen him get both outside and inside. You can get one, you can't get both. I shouldn't need to explain this to you, but since you're still in counting mode, I guess I'll lower my expectations. |

Cry a river. |
You did it backwards, Boggs.
|
Ya the ump has been giving a liberal strike zone, so Boggs decides to hang a nice juicy one in the middle. Damn you Boggs.

My team got out pitched today! I'm gonna go cry myself to sleep because it will make me feel better! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! MOM?!?! Can you put my bottle of milk in the microwave?! |
A Cubs fan posting in a Cards thread during the WS makes sense.
Not like there has EVER been a Cubs WS thread. |

What a ****ing joke of a zone. That's the same pitch that was a strike to Berkman. |
That was a nice play by Punto.
|
If Feliz gets that outside pitch. It's not even worth trying.

Welp... Holland is out and Holland's dad calls strike one at the shoelaces. |
Hey maybe Kulpa is just trying to establish that he's merely terrible not favoring one team over the other. :P Absolute abortion of a game called by him behind the plate, stuff six inches off the plate is a strike.
|
Kulpa walks out to the mound:
"Son, you've made me proud tonight. Don't forget to call your mother after the press conference." |
Holland faught like hell trying to let him to stay in
|
Now watch it be a really tight zone tomorrow
|
Take two strikes, Craig.
|
Jesus Christ, Officer Drebin, why don't you ****ing moonwalk too?
|
A homer means nothing, Albert, just get on base.
|
Nothing against Pujols, but... first pitch swinging?
|
WTF Strike was that 2nd pitch
|
TAKE TWO STRIKES, MATT
|
This is a case of a team who is trained to not swing at balls vs a free swinging team with a crazy ass shit strike zone.
|
Keep fighting off those good pitches.
|
Damn damn damn.
|
Of course Holliday K's in pressure situations.
|
Quote:
Oh well. We need Carp to be a bulldog tomorrow night. |
WTF Strike was that 2nd pitch
|
Holliday has always been an empty calorie guy for us. I just don't remember him ever having a big hit in a pressure situation for us.

Wow has Derek holland had some inside pitches ... Like these balls r way out and he's getting them .. Holy .. Some r 2 and half balls in . Pretty terrible strike zone tonight as Brett Lawrie alludes to. That Mike Napoli HR was massive, though. This is turning into one of the best WS's in a while. |

PitchFX indicates that he had 8 pitches that were called strikes that should have been balls. That can change a game, all right.

did they fire LaRussa after the game or...?

What would you think of automated strike zones? The technology is there to do something like that, but it would completely change the way the game is played.

Haven't been able to read this thread for a day plus. Was starting Carpenter today and game 7 out of the question or just because you were up in the series? Would only be 3 days rest both times and I am no expert on how Carpenter pitches on short rest. Couldn't ask for much more from Jackson even with the walks. Even with what happened, you were one bad bitch and any offense from leading the game. Texas still hasn't shown to me that they have grabbed control of anything. The team of destiny I was worried I would see at the start of the ALCS has not happened in my eyes, even now. |

Lohse until the first sign of trouble. Salas if runners are on. Carpenter will then start the next clean inning. Hopefully this gets us through five. At that point, you can then go with Lynn, Dotel, Rzep, and Motte playing matchups the whole way. If you go in to extras then you have Westbrook, Jackson, and Boggs available, with Rhodes for a single matchup against Murphy, Hamilton, or Moreland. |

Waino for 9 innings? But I think you scenario is more probable |
