I will count myself among the guilty parties, but a ton of people severely underestimated the importance of Tiller and Taylor for this team. This defense is garbage without them.

They never were good. They looked awful in a large number of their non cons. They've played two road games so far, blowing a 20 point lead in one and getting blown out of the gym by a conference bottom feeder in the other.

They were rated high because they won in the first round of the tourney last year, and they were bringing in a top 15 recruit and seemed to have lost little to nothing.

Well, it turns out that we lost our two best defensive players, our top 15 recruit is never going to suit up, and our "leaders", English and Safford, are the worst players on the team.

Did you even watch the game today? 15 points, 9 boards, 9 blocks. He was the one bright spot today I think. That and Pressey being back on the floor. Be nice to get Mitchell in here. We're not too deep down low but the cupboard definitely isn't as bare as you make it seem.

Their defense isn't good and have 1 offensive scorer...

This is one of the worst teams in rotating defensively I've ever seen. It's like watching a 7th grade girls team.

Yep...and the pressing is flat out lazy.

It's not so much that....it's just pressing ALL game exploits the entire half court defense. If MU plays a team that can keep the ball in the middle of the court and beat the press, well then you have numbers and good teams will exploit that all game long and make easy layups and other high % shots.

I like Mike Anderson, super nice guy...don't necessarily agree with his philosophy and game plan...

English was really, really bad today. His two most atrocious moments, however:

1. Pulling up short on a long rebound on the defensive end b/c there would have been contact on a 50-50 ball. He just went full chickenshit. No way around it. Scared.

2. Getting owned at the rim by a recovering defensive player. Why? Because English didn't take the ball hard to the rim. Should have been a dunk, but he pussyfooted it into a blocked finger roll.
