Well then I suppose we have two bad analogies.

His is far better than yours. Bowe isn't something you're guaranteed to be able to replace by just picking another car.

How about you just drive a ****ing Corolla and never get laid.

Color me surprised that you feel that way Brock.
Bowe's not a rare piece of art work.
Calvin Johnson is.

We don't have Calvin Johnson.

So, let's assume you're correct: $10 million dollar difference.

That's $2 million per season for the next five years. The Chiefs are currently $16 million under. They can afford it. And in 2014, the salary cap will increase by about $18 million per team.

With that knowledge, why wouldn't you pay Dwayne Bowe?

This year our QB cap number is the lowest for the length of Cassel's contract. If we have to sign another QB next year and then try to resign Albert and Dorsey or replace Dorsey, the $34 million might not be enough. You can't just say overpay for Bowe and it will all work out. At the same time you can't just be stuck on a number if you're close. If he's asking for Megatron or Fitzgerald money, he's good, but not that good. You can't just stroke a guy's financial self worth and maintain a team concept.

Because you never knew a guy in a Volvo that couldn't get laid?

Calvin Johnson is the Mona Lisa.

Bowe is The Starry Night.

They're both ****ing awesome.

You tell me six players from this list that you'd rather have than Bowe:

I realize that he's a Chevy, and that Ford dealership is right down the street...

That car you bought a year ago might afford you the luxury of letting the #82 car go.

Yeah, no. I'll pay the extra $5K for the security of having the right car for the job.

That car I bought a year ago might afford me the luxury of having two awesome ass cars. 5K is a small price to pay for that huge potential win

We have something that's good enough, probably better than anything we're going to find on the open market. But hey, let's quibble over a million a year.

All said and done, the thing separating the two sides of this debate is what they think Bowe is worth.

One side thinks X+10m is a "blank check", "brinks truck", etc.

The other side thinks X is "lowballing".

Recognizing that we are all speculating, how far apart do you feel the two sides are?

And I think everyone in this thread agrees that the Lions paid too much for Calvin Johnson.

But it's far better to have him than it is to save a few bucks, right?
