You gotta figure if this is true and now leaked, which I think it is, they're burning the midnight oil to get it done overnight.

The Royals obviously didn't leak it. So, are the Reds pressing the issue in order to put other teams on notice and open the bidding to squeeze more by playing off one another.

tk13 07-25-2015 10:57 PM

Yeah this certainly the Reds, and if they didn't leak it, it would've come out from Cueto anyway.

I hope this happens. We need an ace, and definitely don't want to see him on another AL contender. I really don't care what prospect we give up for a solid shot at winning a ring this year.

They have 2000 less followers than Dave Greshman

Literally any one of our top prospects could be the one who held up the deal. I still have yet to see a cred-worthy source relay who it is exactly.

I love that this is happening. It shows you that Moore and the organization know that you don't get very many opportunities like this, or you're not promised many. Go for it. Don't wanna sit back and think "what if I...".

It's going to happen.

They will...probably tomorrow.

Hopefully we all wake up tomorrow to something that tells us that Johnny Cueto is a Royal.

Heard from a source with #Royals that team is still engaged in talks for #Reds Johnny Cueto, and could strike deal as early as tomorrow. 1/2

Also heard that player that stalled deal was in fact Bubba Starling, who has been tearing it up all year. Binford is a name that could go.

Edinson Volquez told me earlier that he's kept in close touch with Johnny Cueto lately and hopes that Kansas City acquires him.

He did bang his knee.

Nailed it.

But don't kid yourself, you need someone who can go out there and give you 6 or 7 innings of 1 run ball in the playoffs. You can go down the list of almost every winner in the last 15 years. You aren't likely going to win by running four #3 starters out there. Yeah we have a great bullpen but you have to get them a lead.

Cant always be results oriented. That series could have gone either way. Doesnt say anything more or less about the importance of starting pitching just because the Giants won game 7 and the Royals didnt. We got thru the playoffs, to game 7, with very very little prouction from James Shields in the post season.

Honestly, if there was a scenario where your entire BP was fresh for a game 7, I wouldnt even try to pitch my starter more than 3 or 4 innings, you could pitch by committer and it would be even more effective.
