NEXT WEEK ON AMC'S THE KILLING

http://cdn.ksk.uproxx.com/wp-content...le-600x337.jpg

Stephen Holder: Yo, I ain’t even gonna front; this a blower of a case we’re dealing with, for real.

Sarah Linden: For the love of God, do you ever shut up, Holder?

Holder: Where I came up, I done seen some stuff. You don’t get this affected street twang without seeing the worst of the world. But this… yo… it’s some realness, y’know?

Sarah: I wasn’t aware you could order burgers here with bullshit cooked into the meat.

Holder: You’s a real ball buster, Sarah. I like that about you, even though no reasonable person would. But I do. Word.

Sarah: Well, color me ecstatic.

Holder: Fine, then. I guess I ain’ts gotsta share this with you:

http://cdn.ksk.uproxx.com/wp-content...ox-600x337.jpg

Sarah: Rosie! Where did you find this?

Holder: I just happened to be doing standard police work, like, only 13 episodes into the season. Just kidding. Some dude in my AA meeting hooked me up with it.

Sarah: Look! She’s wearing a jersey. The Seahawks! Of course. We’ve only explored the possibility of the killer being close friends, family members, a mayoral candidate, a bunch of Muslims, a black teacher, Franklin & Bash, Sage Steele, David Benioff, Michael Imperioli and a dozen other red herrings. Naturally, the local professional football team is another blind alley worth pursuing.

Holder: Fo’ sho’, fo’ sho’

[Later]

http://cdn.ksk.uproxx.com/wp-content...hawn_Lynch.jpg

Sarah: State your name, please.

Marshawn Lynch: FOLKZZ IS CALL ME “JIMMY APPLEBEES” AKA “LUTHOR VON LUTHOR” AKA “THE LOST SWAGGAMAN OF HELLA TRILLSVILLE” AKA “BEEF MOE”

Sarah: I see. And can you vouch for your whereabouts the evening of May 3rd?

Marshawn Lynch: DAT NIGHT I WENT ALL BEEF MOE FIRST I SAW DIS DUDE IN HIS WHIP AND I WAS LIKE NATNATNATNATNATNATNATNATNAT DEN HE GONE TRY TO COME UP ON ME AND CAN’T BE HAVING DAT SO I BE LIKE DOOOOOOOOOWEEEP HEH HEH DAT DUDE CRAZY BUT CRAZY DONT GOT NOTHING ON STOOOPID CRAZY, NAHMEAN?

Sarah: I can’t understand a single word this man is saying.

Holder: That’s ’cause you ain’t no streets in you, girl.

Sarah: So you talk to him, then, Mr. ****ing Hood Life.

Holder: Aight. [Beat] Yo, B, lemme rap at ‘chu for a sec. We trying to find out who capped this bitch named Rosie. What you heard, yo?

Marshawn: CUZ ROLLED ON ME AGIN TWO WEEK BACK LOOK LIKE HE WANNA SCRAP I CALL THAT RESCRAP HE FINNA TAKE OUT BEEF MOE CANT BE TAKING OUT BEEF MOE FULL BORE, DUDE I BRING THE BORE THAT THE REAL BEEF MOE HEH HEH JOKES SO DUDE FIND HISSELF BEEFED ON TWO TIMES AND WHAT I HEAR BUT TWO DAYS AGO HE BE TALKING UP LIKE HE LICKED BEEF MOE DAT SOME TRIFLING SHIT, NAHMEAN?

http://cdn.ksk.uproxx.com/wp-content...sk-600x337.jpg

Holder: … uhhhhhhhh…

http://cdn.ksk.uproxx.com/wp-content...k2-600x337.jpg

Holder: … yeahhhhhhh … So here’s the dilly: he said, uh, that we should follow the money and check up on the owner of the team.

Sarah: Are you sure?

Holder: Uh… yeah. YEAH! ‘Course I’m sure, yo. I don’t question you when you let your kid’s life fall to shit or don’t bother checking the phone records after you found out Rosie was using her cell the night of her murder.

Sarah: All right. We’ll follow your lead.

[Show spends four entire episodes investigating the inner workings of Paul Allen's life to no avail]

http://cdn.ksk.uproxx.com/wp-content...paul-allen.jpg

Paul Allen: Officers, it’s been a treat getting to know the two of you. But I’m afraid I have more pressing matters to which I must attend. So I will offer you this deal: You leave my estate and never come again. You never appear at one of many companies and corporate interests. And maybe I’ll consider not filling an extremely costly lawsuit against your department.

Holder: That’s tough but fair.

http://cdn.ksk.uproxx.com/wp-content...ll-600x337.jpg

Sarah: Goddammit, Holder. We’re not getting anywhere. This has been nothing but an endless stream of pointless twists, each more reeruned than the last. I tried to tell myself that it’s all worth it, because when the case is solved, I can look back at it and tell myself it wasn’t some huge tedious ordeal. But now I don’t think we’re ever gonna solve it. This case is going to keep going, in more and more bizarre and inane directions. IT’S A ****ING STUPID WASTE OF TIME. WHY DID I EVER GET INVOLVED WITH THIS!?

Holder: You know, we could just pin it on Pete Carroll.

Sarah: Hey, YEAH. That asshole has gotten away with everything. There’s probably a murder in there somewhere, too.

Holder: Maybe this was worth it, after all.

LMAO The Lynch part was brilliant.

Oh, and I didn't mind Sunday's episode; it made the characters feel a bit more real, IMO.

"Timefiller" episode. 24 was notorious for this...but to be fair, most series have at least 1 or 2 a season.

They don't usually have them two weeks before their big finale. In their first season. When they only have to do 13 episodes in the first place.

Incidentally, it's nice that both detectives could just stop investigating their murder case for an entire day. I was starting to worry that the stress of ignoring routine policework was getting to them. Now they can come back refreshed and get right back to not doing anything.

It was almost like they took the entire season's worth of character development for the two of them and threw it together into a single episode. It was just weird to have an episode with nobody else in it.

It was interesting to see her drop everything else when it was her kid, and to see him be willing to help her with it. But it was too much of an infodump episode. "This is why she's screwed up" and "He has a kid" (I'm assuming) and so on.

Does he have a kid? I thought he was talking to his nephew that he stole the gold coin from. I don't know.

I must've missed that part. That would explain the coin near the end of the episode.

When he was at his NA meeting he told a story about his nephew showing him his new gold coin. And then he snuck into his room and stole it.

Yea, they showed a scene in an earlier episode where he left some money for his sister and her kid in their mailbox. Then he mentioned his sister in the AA meeting scene.

I remember the meeting but I don't remember the story. Unfortunately that was around the time I started tuning out the show.

I guess I'm falling into the 'don't care whether there's a second season' camp.

It's not a bad show, but it seems very meandering.

Herc on aicn says tonight's episode might be the best of the series so far, so hopefully that'll help wash the taste of last week's (which he disliked as much as the rest of us) out of my mouth.

She's a good guess. It can't be Richmond, as he wouldn't drown her in one of his own cars.

If we assume Richmond met Rosie that night, then I could see it being Gwen, who would have followed him. She'd have the double-whammy of being a jilted lover and being frustrated at seeing him risk the election by cavorting with teenage whores.

She wasn't in a hurry to open that envelope the mayor gave her, which suggests maybe she already knew of Richmond's little secret. She'd also have access to one of the campaign cars, although like with Richmond, it doesn't make sense that she'd use it.

Barring her, the only other person who seems possible is Belko, who could have followed Rosie after she came back to the house. And he's got this creepy idealistic notion of that family, so if he discovered Rosie's side job, it could have pushed him over the edge. But it doesn't make sense that he'd have access to the car.

Really, I'm hoping it'll be Linden's son, just to partly justify that shit show from last week. This was a good episode, although if they couldn't make the big "build-up to the finale" episode good, then it's probably time to quit. But I'll take what I can get.

Looks like they got their second season.

Wickedson2.0 06-13-2011 09:20 PM

Love everything about this show.

Holder and Linden crack me up, love those two.
