I watched the first couple, but then I forgot about it. I too think they did a good job with the upgrades.

All of it uninspiring, unoriginal recycled crap.

Dr. Who is the only show on SciFi that is actual SciFi.

Everything else are horror shows targetted for women.

Interesting Galactica episode tonight. I was worried it might be a dud. They casted perfectly for the lawyer, I thought.

Yeah, ol' Badger from Firefly was a good casting.

I started watching Babylon 5 a couple weeks ago, after hearing all kinds of Battlestar Galactica bashers point to that show as how a sci fi series should be run, specifically pointing to the lack of throwaway (filler) eps.

I swear, I'm through the first season, and I'm still waiting for it to get good. I mean, it's been just good enough to keep me watching, but it's like soap opera quality TV so far, and at least 3/4 of the episodes have been filler.

It makes me laugh.

(I watched the show on and off when it was originally on, and thought it was good. Now I'm not so sure...)

I really liked the note at the end of the episode tonight. And I don't know why, but they did better tonight with the whole Kara/Lee/Sam triangle than they have in a year. Watching everybody struggle with her loss is good TV, in my book.

Babylon 5 gets really good in seasons 2-4... season 4 is truely amazing for a sci-fi show period... Season 5, was okay but not on par with the others..

Babylon 5, is suppose to have two new movies being made also...

Bowser 03-11-2007 10:01 PM

I'm still pissed Firefly hasn't been picked up. It may be a little more difficult since Serenity was made, but what a waste.

Which was better - Babylon 5 or Farscape?

Agreed. The first season of B5 (much like the first season of Star Trek Next Generation) was pretty lame. In particular, the actor who plays Sinclair is more wooden than a fucking tree. After Boxleitner takes over as Sheridan, the series soars to new heights.

BTW, I noticed that they removed Katee Sackhoff's name from the opening credits on Battlestar Galactica. They're playing it like Starbuck's really dead, but I still don't buy into that bullshit for a minute.

I remember season 5 (which I did watch, on TNT IIRC) as being pretty bad. Probably because they wrapped up everything early thinking they weren't going to have a 5th season.

I remember tidbits of seasons 2-4, but watching them all in sequence will be a new thing. I hope they are good.

In any case, I think BSG (the new one) is the best series in the history of televised science fiction, and that's including this season, which I've seemed to like more than most. Took the top position from my old favorite, Farscape, which had some hideously cheesy single eps, but I loved the series-long arc.

I'm still waiting to see Blake's 7.

I had heard about that a while back, but it still was a bit of a shock to see it, even knowing it was coming.

I don't believe for a second she's gone either. I love that they took her out of the credits, though.

And I heard that she may not be the only one taken out. Whether that's true or not, I don't know.

There was a gap in the spot where her name had previously appeared - they didn't redo the credits so the remaining names appeared at regular intervals. Sneaky bastards. :D

And where did you hear the other rumor?

keg in kc 03-11-2007 10:19 PM

SciFi.com BSG Forum. I try to avoid spoilers, but sometimes I'm weak. Apparently some crazy shit may happen in the next two weeks. I've done my best not to read too much about what, specifically, the crazy shit is, however...

FYI there's a preview for next week's first half of the season finale up: http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/code/video.html

Frazod 03-11-2007 10:34 PM

Yeah, I think I'll pass on the spoilers as well.

I'm kind of bummed that there are only two more episodes left, though. :sulk:

And we have to wait 10 months for the next new one. Christ, it's like the season 1/season 2 break all over.

Sorry man. Season 4 starts in January 2008.

Although we may get a movie of some sort in the meantime.

Right now season 4 is set for 13 episodes, but it may stretch out to 20 or 22.
