reading this thread must have been my biggest waste of time since that stripper told me to wait outside the club and we could go back to her place.

I will occasionally use a smiley to indicate an actual emotion.

I genearlly don't use smilies to show I'm being sarcastic or ironic. I don't assume people are so humor impaired that they can't tell when I'm joking. Putting a smiley at the end of your comment is like laughing at your own joke. And I don't care what the netiquette police think.
