Good Grief, If it means so much for MU fans to go to the Orange Bowl ......... GO ! Go ahead and GO, KU will welcome the support of the quality Big 12 fans in Miami. :D

Again folks,Personally, I wish KU had been in the Cotton Bowl, I personally think it is a better chance to recruit some more Texas talent.

But that is just me........

And I absolutely believe that behind-the-scenes shenanigans were involved. Will it ever come out in the open? Of course not. But Kansas was effectively eliminated from BCS contention the minute Reesing's face was driven into the turf in the Arrowhead endzone, and everybody knows it. Yet there KU is. No reason or excuse has a shred of believability. Something shady happened. It is what it is. Corrupt. Dirty. I could not in good conscience be a part of it.

I think it's 'a handful that don't realize and admit what a horrible injustice was done'.

As far as the crap on this board the past few days, it goes both ways. Saying that Kansas deserved the spot over Mizzou is just as ridiculous as saying Kansas sucks because they didn't beat Illinois or Mizzou. Saying that Mizzou didn't get cheated is just as ridiculous as saying Mizzou is vastly superior because of an 8 point victory.

Kansas' roll through the Big 12 North deserves a BCS bid just as much as Hawaii's roll through the WAC or OSU's roll through the Big 10. They just don't deserve a bid over Mizzou.

Yet, in all of this 'Mizzou got screwed' talk, half the argument seems to be that Kansas doesn't deserve to be in the corporate.com bowl, and I know if the tables were turned, you wouldn't stand for that type of disrespect ;)

What's really sad is that if Kansas loses by 1, the tables willbe turned... most Mizzou fans will agree they were BCS-worthy (even if it's not over Mizzou), while the others throw it in the face of Kansas fans and say they couldn't play with VTech because of 'scoreboard'.

Your right KU needs some more 4th teir players from Texas, I think MU has the best deal going to the Cotton, playing on New Years Day, better game, favored to win, will be able to recurit more top teir players, its a big win for MU.

Well, your "handful" sure makes a lot of noise.

As for the tables getting turned, as a fan of the Chiefs, Cardinals and Tigers, I've always been on the "screwee" side, not the "screwer," so I wouldn't know it feels. I can only conclude that a moral upbringing would preclude me from enjoying it.

"You can put the Orange Bowl with Kansas on Comedy Central, because it is a joke for them to be there." -- Pat Forde on ESPN this morning

You're kidding - talking heads talking? Who woulda thunk.

You can't blame KU in this whole mess or at least I don't...they did all they could do to get a BCS bowl & got one.

I do think it's funny how everyone is saying KU is now a joke eventhough I think KU does deserve a BCS bowl.

It will all work out in MU's favor though....just watch how the final rankings look on January 8th. It's all good.

I think a week of Mizzou love in Dallas will payoff handsomely come February 2008 & beyond.

Spott 12-04-2007 08:37 PM

I don't see a real difference in what bowl either team ends up in. Both teams exceeded expectations for this season and should be happy to be playing in New Year's day bowl games. The BCS has always been garbage, but that's nothing new. It is a downer on the sport to never really have a true champion that everyone agrees on like college basketball does, but that's the way it's always been(unfortunately).

It will be a welcome thing for me to be able to wake up on New Years day, shake off my hangover and actually have a rooting interest in a bowl game for a change.

If somebody handed you the greatest gift you'd ever been given, and later you found out that they stole it from somebody else, would you be proud to display it?

While I agree that BCS generally sucks donkey balls, I do not think it is wrong for KU fans to at least BE HAPPY that their team is in a major bowl, regardless of whether or not the team was deserving. They have to live with the Orange Bowl Committee's selection, too.

The one thing KU fans should NOT be doing is trying to justify their BCS bid. There is just no way to do that. Nevertheless, it is what it is and I don't think it is realistic to expect KU fans to not be happy with the result despite how wrong it was.

It would prevent you from openly gloating about it, especially towards the team that was screwed... but let's say for a minute that the Jayhawks athletic department did nothing wrong, and that it was just a horrible decision by the BCS selection morons.... Cotton Bowl or BCS bowl, it's still a huge accomplishment by a team that has never won their own division and has never won bowl games in consecutive years.

I couldn't do Perkins' job, because I see it like you.... it's 100% on the field. I couldn't sell my team over Mizzou and then feel good holding the $6 million check. But Perkins' job is to make money, and his sales pitch was all about money.

Like I said, Kansas deserved a good bowl this year, regardless of what some here are saying. From a fan perspective, I'm going to enjoy it, because they deserve a good bowl; even if the business side makes it unfair.

I understand where you guys (Bearcat and Pierce) are coming from. Again, it is not my intention to lump you in with certain other people here, and I realize it's hard to get that when I reply to shit posted by some of your douchebag brethren.

Honestly, though, I'd rather be in my position than yours. Sure we've been slighted on a grand scale, and it sucks, but everybody knows it, and my pride in my team and sense of honor is intact.

No need to apologize....I've had the days when I did the same thing. In fact, having been around here longer I bet I have irritated many a friend with a rant of mine.

I definitely understand that, and respect your point of view.

Too bad there's no damn playoff! :banghead:

I will admit to having some fun with all the BCS Bowel (Bowl) Selections...

I work in a department of 125 people in SEC country.....nothing has been more irritating than to listen to the "SEC is King" chant I have had to listen to all year. Luckily, there are a few fans from other teams here that balance all the crap I have to listen to.

That being said.....one of the most annoying thing is to have to listen to the baying of the OSU fans talking about being in the BCS NC game 2 years in a row...nevermind that they had to "back" into it.

All told there are 40 Kentucky fans, 3 OSU fans, 1 K-State fan, 2 Sooner fans, 1 Georgia fan, 1 Tennessee fan, 1 FSU fan, 2 Tarheel fans, 1 West Virginia fan, 1 Virginia Tech fan, and 1 Cornhusker fan.

Makes for some pretty good conversations.
