No kidding.

Why don't you explain your point?

What should he feel guilty about and why?

Again, I didn't ask you the question and I'm not feeding your into your argument.

Wow, you guys are still getting all serious. C'mon people. There are tons of people who think that pricey versions of item _____ are too expensive. Who cares? The Oakleys that I have had in the past worked pretty well. I used them for actual training purposes and they were pretty good. I agree with some dudes who say there are better performance glasses out there, but Oaks aren't bad. To be honest though, I certainly wouldn't spend almost 4 bills on anything from Prada. Hell, I don't need a new purse. Haha...can I get in on the argument boys?

So what you're saying is you are unemployed and spent $100 on sunglasses?

No, I'm asking you what the national unemployment rate would have to decline to before you'd approve of me buying some sunglasses.

I couldn't care less if someone wants to wear $2 sunglasses or $1500 sunglasses, so no one else should care that I'm sporting $200 ones.

I've done $350 before, but most of that was from credit card rebates where my amount doubled if I chose a specific store to spend it at over receiving cash from them.

They are all Ill wear. The quality alone makes them worth the money. I just have a cheap pair right now (because my good pair got stolen) but, with those I could look directly into the sun, or wear them when I was driving at night. Never tried it, but when you walk in to a lowly dimmed place after being in the bright sun I never had a problem seeing with them.

Why do you care about my approval? Does that really matter or are you just another that wants to start an argument?

vailpass 01-14-2010 02:47 PM

LOL at people who think sunglasses are a luxury. Here in Arizona sunglasses are a medical necessity. My 3 children have sunglasses some here would consider expensive but at what cost eyesight?

Mosbonian 01-14-2010 02:48 PM

I used to spend little to no dollars on sunglasses...mostly because, like many here, I lose them after a bit.

But when i started here at my present employer, I noticed that we sell Oakleys to the Law Enforcement industry and that I could get them at a nice price. Most everyone I asked spoke highly of them and the customer service they give you should you scratch a lens or have issues.

My present pair is 3 years old, and still look new. I didn't pay retail price because of my company discount, but they weren't cheap either.

And I don't buy my sunglasses for looks either...so if anyone would come up and laugh saying they look ridiculous, I'd smile and tell 'em thanks.

Apparently you feel that others should care, since you bothered posting your tale of woe about people losing jobs and houses, and that people buying sunglasses should be ashamed of themselves.

Yup, another that just wants to start an argument.

It amazes me in the economy we live in with so many people losing their homes and jobs that some still have the expendable cash to pay for over-priced sunglasses. :shake:

Shitty sun glasses allow the pupil to expand while letting in UVA & UVB rays which slowly deteriorate the eyes. Good sunglasses block them while letting the pupil to expand for better sight.

But hey, they're replaceable right? $200 is too much when it comes to your eyesight.

I believe your options at the moment are:

A) Tell us you think people who pay more than $10 for sunglasses are self-absorbed douchebags, and/or if you buy Oakleys, you're stuck in 1996, and question their sexuality.

2) Tell chasedude to get off his high horse, and question his sexuality.

III) Tell a riveting story that contains a lot of f-bombs and personal attacks against specific board members.

Is it ok with you if I spend the money I earn? Or must I wait until all the world's inconveniences have been alleviated?
