Seriously it's good for KC and good for the team. I want as many Chiefs as possible in the PB if we can't do the SB.

Hopefully he doesn't throw 3 picks like Bono.

BTW that is not a knock on DJ it just signals this was the final nail in the coffin. Cassel is staying and we need to get used to it.

Absolutely, I suppose I didn't make that point terribly clear.

The Pro Bowl nod and Cassel's retention are unrelated. Cassel was going to be here for awhile with or without the Pro Bowl nod. The TD/INT ratio pretty much guaranteed that.

I'm mostly rolling my eyes at the fact that I'm going to get to hear "Oh yeah, well he was a Pro Bowler, jackass" for the next 2 seasons. It's going to become a magic bullet that is drawn every time somebody points out his shortcomings.

All told, the PB nomination can only be a good thing for the Chiefs. The 'damage' as I see it was already done, with or without the PB berth, so the nomination itself has no downside. On the other hand, it raises the standing of the organization somewhat and it may help us get another WR threat in here.

It's just a virtual certainty to become an annoying meme that I'm positive I'll grow tired of by November of 2011.

Oh well. Like I said, I'm pretty much done with the "draft a QB" cry - the organization isn't going to go that route. I'm going to continue to insist that we can (and should) do better, but ultimately I have no choice but to hope the plan that has failed for the last 25 years, finally falls into place.

Maybe it will give you a chance to use laissez-faire again in a way that shows you have no idea what it means. Ya know ROR, when in Rome...

Oh yes. There are about of million tired ass things that will be drug out. Namely...

"OMG MC is a pro bowler!"

and

"OMG MC shit is pants!"

Both of them will be true!

Maybe you can finally buy a Cassel jersey now and retire that lovely Pats sweatshirt of yours!

I agree, man.

It definitely helps Pioli in terms of public perception. Exec. of the Year. His hand-picked boy is a Pro Bowler.

Hey, maybe we parlay these things into some solid personnel moves this off-season and have a good crack at improving, no matter the brutal schedule we're looking at next year? Can't hurt, that's for damn sure.

Sure wish we'd hear about a strong OC hire, though...

Took the words out of my head.

Sweet. Now that the qb position is set for another 3-5 years. I am so looking forward to the team that the exec of the year is building. What a great time to be a chiefs fan.

TheGuardian 01-19-2011 11:00 PM

I hope Cassel goes 60 for 60 in the pro bowl for 900 yards and 7 TD's just to watch some people here show up in the news for setting themselves on fire as they watched it happen.

You're looking forward to losing in the first round of the playoffs (at best) for the next 3-5 years? To each his own, I guess.

Why would anybody set themselves on fire over something pointless that proves nothing?

Anyone notice when Brady's legs get hurt Cassell gets to play.
