How is he making Hunt any more money than Peterson did? How would Pioli make him more money than (insert ANY other available GM) would?

Someone is going to have to explain to me how an extension affects the previous contract in anyway unless its a restructure.

I've percolated on that, Mr. jd1020 after which I sat in the pot for a few days.

The only way I can figure it is that you "give" the extension in exchange for "taking" a less expensive buyout. For Pioli it might make sense because he gets the multi-year extension if he can keep his job.

Didnt you just say a couple weeks ago that your source told you Pioli had already been fired?

Do you know multiple people there, or am I getting you confused with someone else?

There's 3 people I get info from. 1 really solid one, one meh one and another decent guy.

I did not get the firing info from the real solid one. Could have been the same dude that told Nick Wright. Don't know if there's any connection.

What's been said is that Clark had his mind made up and Pioli did a master sales job to stay on.

If he does indeed stay, any opinions on who we'd go after as far as HC?

Surely it can't be Ferentz...surely, surely not....

Sorry, I was just piggybacking on your post, since the contract extension was a common theme in both pieces of info.

What?

That makes NO sense. How exactly is Pioli making him a lot of money? Ticket sales will be the lowest in the league if Pioli is retained.

Clark isn't a stupid business man. Even if all he cares about is money, he knows that firing Pioli is the only way to get more money.

It's not just ticket sales.

Pioli has his hand in every aspect of the org. Operation costs from the amount of ink used, to paper ordered, to the fabric on sales people's chairs have been micromanaged by him.

He has his hands everywhere. He's cut their spending significantly over what Carl had done. That was one of the appeals Clark first had with Scott is SP came in and pinpointed areas to save money.

Clark is a business man. He hasn't lost money a single year Pioli has been here.

Great. So now we have 2 completely different conflicting reports.

Pioli is the ultimate comfort guy.

I'm sure that'll be his first go to.

But if all of this is true, and Pioli is back, I'm done communicating with any of them. I need to rid myself of the filth that is this organization.

Then Clark is a moron and this team is done for.

We're going to have the #1 overall pick for the first time EVER and it's not going to matter.

In other words-NO ONE KNOWS!!!

NO ONE!
Maybe not ever Clark.

It has to be a REALLY spectacular head coach hire if Pioli stays. Better not be Firentz

There are plenty of cap guys you can use to manage salary $ etc...that's not even Pioli's forte.

Pioli is a GM who believed in not spending big in FA and building from the draft. He believes in a certain slotting for positions when it comes to money.

This philosophy leads to the Chiefs not spending the entire salary cap and making lots of money. Most GM's would fight against this and want to spend as much as they can each year.

Especially with the lockout and no salary floor ... In my opinion, Pioli made the Hunt a tons of money and Clark loved it.

No one will be happier than I am if he gets fired.

I just haven't been told from anyone I trust that it's going to happen and that he won't be back in 2013. All the info is in the other direction with the exception of Schefter and LaCon.

Schefter hasn't reported anything. He used someone elses report and provided his opinion.

If Pisoli is staying, I hope the ****ers win today and lose the 1 pick
