Thank you for this. Thank you.

If Porter goes to KU, Anderson should resign within the next 10 seconds of the announcement.

Today's highlight: Gill-Caesar's shot disappeared when he hurt his back, so NO BIG DEAL!

Heard from a credible source that the reason the staff was okay with Teki transferring was that, thanks to his back injury, his jump shot was ruined. Post-injury he completely lost his shot. He couldn't shoot and struggled with the game afterwards. He had to restart, watching videos of how he shot in slow motion and practising slowly to try to relearn how to shoot. He was still looking rough when he and the staff decided to part ways.

This is such utter bullshit, I don't know where to start. You don't lose the YEARS of muscle memory you've built up because you hurt your back.

That's a good appetizer for the nonsense that's got to inevitably come from Porter picking kU

I know at least one member of the staff thinks Porter is going to Duke... but that's also the same staff member who got caught bragging about Cook over the weekend without realizing he had moved up his announcement date.

So... I'm guessing that Duke prediction isn't really solid.

I really can't believe how stupid the alumni were to think this was going to be a good hire. So many red flags, mind blowing how dumb people are.

First of all he won a D2 championship at the D2 equivalent of Texas or Ohio State. UCM, other than Grand Valley State, has the most resources of any D2 school in the nation (Lindenwood could start challenging them IMO). Mainly with JUCOs and transfers.

Second as the lead recruiter in the mid to late 90s when a mass exodus of top Missouri prep talent, didn't sign with Mizzou. Why you expect during the younger years, you couldn't get the top talent - why when you are older? Just look at this list:
Larry Hughes
Chris Carrawell
Loren Woods
Ryan Robertson
Derek Hood
Tyrone Lue
JaRon Rush
Gary Buchanan
Cookie Belcher
You think Mizzou could have won something during those years with that talent?

Third, even with his pretty solid resume he never got considered for any other head coaching job. If he was really worth a damn, MVC school would have scooped him. Seriously that's the stepping stone conference for basketball coaches. Not a single one of them wanted him.

Just really, really stupid on the part of the booster trying to get some nostalgia without thinking it through.

Preaching to the choir, man.

One of the things I pointed out as a concern on PowerMizzou consistently was that Kim Anderson was the lead assistant of a declining program and that the talent brought in during that period was consistently underwhelming.

He became the lead assistant in 92 or so. The only impact recruits they landed during that time period, before Dooling and Gilbert, were Kelly Thames and Jeff Hafer, and Hafer was more luck than anything else.

And if Paul O'Liney doesn't see them getting their shit pushed in at Bud Walton, I'm not sure that 93-94 team even comes together like it did.

The CMSU-place-on-the-landscape thing is a great point and one that is consistently ignored by Kim pumpers.

He didn't win at CMSU because he had a great system, or was great at developing kids, or was great at Xs and Os. Even his biggest supporters on PM who watched his teams at CMSU site that he didn't have any of these things. Just talk about "toughness" and skill. And admit that he had a lot of talent on his best teams there.

He won at CMSU because it's a big kid on its block (complete with mustache, pubic hair, and muscles) and he was able to attract more talent than its peer institutions - and that talent was largely made up of kids who had no better options and who had to put up with his old man schtick, because like Richard Gere in an Officer and a Gentlemen, they had nowhere else to go.

Good. Glad. Now, can't use the "Michael Porter hasn't eliminated them!" Justification after this season.

Some were going to try. Little bro not going to Mizzou just makes it that much more certain.

Can't wait for the KA brigade to roll out the excuses when Porter goes elsewhere....

Not sure if you are on PowerMizzou, but the thread on Jontay Porter's commitment is pretty funny. A lot of things like "this doesn't change anything" and "he doesn't even start for his high school team" etc.

In fairness, most are not making excuses. Most have realized that Anderson is out of his league.

Yeah, most have come around. there are a few stubborn defenders, OWGs who still think Norm is an all-time "Great" and who believe his best teams were about toughness (not having a ton of talent, which is what they actually were about).

"...get back to the tough, hard-nosed teams that played defense..." ...and never won anything that mattered.
