Though it would be nice for the game to be pure and have the QB run his offense..see PM last night...and Kubiak's offense before that? That's exactly why the onus will always fall on the playcaller, and it's hard for me to put all the blame on the QB... Andy's penchant for swing passes is as futile as Jimmy Ray's three runs and a punt. |

Defense is able to hold the opposition to under 20 points and generated six points of their own with an interception return for a TD but the team still blew a 14 point lead at home because their quarterback could not or would not audible out of dumb play calls, missed wide open receivers and turned the ball over twice even though his calling card is doing the opposite of that in addition to the head coach making bad game related decisions in crucial situations and the one bonafide playmaker on the team fumbling two carries. Everything but the Smith picks were things you can count on for KC given the personnel involved -even the Charles turnovers because he has a documented history of fumbling the ****ing ball at a higher rate than other premiere backs. I've said this several times: Maclin and Kelce aren't enough to get Smith out of his conservative, take-no-chances, make-no-mistakes game and there are at least TWO visible examples of Smith -a supposedly smart and accurate QB- making terrible decisions and missing even the safest of throws. Similarly, Andy Reid is doing the same shit that partially got him chased out of Philadelphia. Abandoning the run game when it's the one strength of the offense (the series that stalled in the red zone), having an offensive call that takes incredibly too long to get dialed in to the QB (second half timeout in Denver territory), and mismanaging the clock (opting to run instead of kneel to end regulation) -the latter of which literally lost KC the game. We've got two games of evidence that makes it obvious the Chiefs -offensively- are no better than last year outside of marginal upgrades on the offensive line. No ifs, ands or buts about it. Double or look like you're double covering Kelce, double or look like you're double covering Maclin and don't let Charles beat you on the ground and you've contained the Chiefs. Kelce is putting up decent numbers but Maclin has Dwayne Bowe-esque production so far. This was predictable once KC made no other move to improve offensive skill personnel outside of adding Maclin. Wilson and Thomas are more or less rookies. Both are undersized and Thomas has no business actually being anything more than a kick returner. Conley got hurt in camp and is a rookie, so he wasn't going to contribute anything this season anyway. That leaves Avant and Frankie Hammond as the only other WR options.. and I'm going to guess you've never pointed to them as guys that actually good enough to make the offense go places. They weren't better than Denver last night. The scoreboard proves it and the turnover margin proves it. The 2015 Chiefs are the 2014 Chiefs. If you thought this year's team was a playoff contender, then logically you must have thought last year's team was a playoff contender. And I'm going to guess you never said as much last year. |
I thought they had a legit chance last year as well. And they came within a Travis Kelce doofus up from being in the playoffs last season.
So, yeah, I think that this team, which I believe is a better team than the 2014 Chiefs, who should have been in the playoffs, is a playoff caliber team. |
I'm honestly not sure I've ever seen a stronger combination of both right, and wrong, combined in a single post as Discuss last post.
First half was pure truth, second half was just epic pessimism... kinda reminds me of a game I just watched. I understand the sickness, told my best pal tonight "I've never felt such a weirdly personal, and genuine, sense of shame about this team performance, the colts game pales in comparison to this". But to just go in for the ultimate team kill, just cancel the Chiefs season now in week 2 talk? It went from a respectable rant, to needless "abandon all hope" talk. |

Unfortunately, the play calling and game management just aren't up to par. |

He threw one 6 yard pass and Kelce did all the work from there. Flacco was being harassed far more in their game than Alex was last night, and Smith got about 3 times the production from the run game than Flacco did. Our offense, shitty as it is, should have put up a solid 30 points on them if they were worth half a shit. Their defense is good but overrated at this point. The Bills are better. Ours is better, although it's close. |
This Chiefs team is a 10 win team. 12 at the ceiling. The problem is that last night the coaching really ****ed the team up and held them back.
It should have been 21-7 going into the half. No excuse for Andy to do what he did at the 2 yard line and before the half. |

There's your 21-7. |

You're just a ****ing moron ! |

The 2 yard line debacle is the same as the Seahawks. JC had 4 rushes on that first drive, three for 6,7 and 13 yards respectively. Alex did in fact miss the Kelce TD, no denying that. But any moron would run the ball there. Best back in the NFL…or Alex? Who are you trusting? Andy should have went full conservative before the half. Run the clock down. Broncos were on an emotional high and had the momentum. Take the lead at half and you get another shot to start the 3Q. |

The turnovers and penalties are indicative of what happens on a short week. You add the hype/national stage for this game...is what it is. They were pressing.
KC's defense looked pretty scary....they were winning with 4 turnovers. KC is play-off bound barring any substantial injuries...and defense in January is what you need. I'm not seeing any dominant teams in the AFC..really Chiefs and Denver look like the best teams. I'm not convinced Manning stays injury free...he's getting beat up. KC let one slip through the cracks here....they weren't out matched like last season. |
