This is true.

Nobody is saying they want braxton to be a full time gadget player. So why even bring intelligence into the argument? He can do more right away than an average gadget player. And unlike most gadgets is plenty capable of being a true receiver.

But to answer your question, DAT has been a nice role player for the Chiefs when he's on the field. Percy Harvin was excellently used in Seattle and Edelman started off as a gadget player. Tavon Austin has done decent for the rams. Braxton saves us two roster spots because it will allow us to cut DAT and worthless Frankie Hammond. Just because the Chiefs got burned by McCluster doesn't mean all gadget guys are useless.

Randall Cobb

They do, don't they.

Wasn't it a Defensive lineman that they swiped from us last time?

I don't disagree, but that's what he still is.

Cobb's trajectory is exactly the one Miller is following. QB convert, development needed, Cobb spent most of his first year as a kick returner in the NFL and was brought along. Only difference is Cobb had an extra year of WR in college.

But it's really the same thing. Some times gadget players hit (Cobb) and most of the time they miss (McCluster and friends)

Give me a real #2 WR any day.

I wouldn't go that far. Cobb is dangerous when you have at least average receivers around him. Not much he's gonna do with garbage at the 1 and 2.

And two years ago GB nabbed HA Ha and then Cinci took the DB perfect for us right after we pissed the bed and drafted Ford....

So you take a chance on those guys in the 4th or below (unless you have multiple high picks.)

He can't be the no 1 target.

He just can't.

I won't slam him for it - he is what he is.

Dante Hall wasn't a no 2 WR either...

Here is the way I am perceiving this trade, and the way you should to, because it is in fact probably reality:

Whoever it is Dorsey and co. wants, they knew was going to be available at 37. So, if you're him and you have a choice to either 'reach' for that guy and get no compensation, or move back and add some better draft choices, what would you do?

It's easy. You move back and take the picks, and I think everyone will understand by the end of the night. I'm officially on record saying that I think it's either Alexander or Green from Clemson, and probably Green because he is more likely to make it to 37, meaning the trade back was safer.

Not exactly. There have been multiple reports that we were trying to trade up. When that didn't happen and the player/players they wanted were gone Dorsey decided to trade back instead of reaching for one of the players out of that second grouping that he talked about and yes as you said recoup some compensation.

when you have a depth chart where most of the starters are already penciled in I think you can afford to reach for a luxury like that.

I'm not going to be snake bitten because Fat Scott grabbing them in the 2nd round when he had no idea how to build the back end of the roster burned us.

I mean what could we grab in the 2nd today that could come in and be a Day 1 starter besides offensive guard or corner? Any other spots open? Maybe WR if you don't like what we have opposite Maclin? ILBer if you are anti Mauga and the 40 other UDFA/late round ILBers we have. But every other position is penciled in, so really we might be drafting a back up no matter how you slice it.

That's pretty much what I meant - you just stated it better.

We could fill a huge need at G, ILB, C, or Safety.

All could start day 1...

Yes that's what I mean, like at 28 he knew then that the guy(s) they were going to want we're going to be around a little longer.
