Funny you say that, because Robert Reed, the actor who did get the role, was such a PITA to producer Sherwood Schwartz that they were going to kill off his character if the series had been renewed another season.

I thought Behind Enemy Lines was pretty bad. Gene just mailed it in and that idiot Owen Wilson was miscast with Holywood trying to make star material out of zilch.

Hackman was one those guys who always elevated the material even if the film was lesser.

But he didn’t make too many stinkers.

One thing that doesn't make any sense, is that the handyman who originally called police said he was locked out of the house and could only see the bodies through a window... but when police arrived they found the front door ajar

Thats a major red flag

My understanding. There was another door in the house ajar. Two other dogs used it to get outside. The dead one was caged or confined
