That lose last night was bad. But putting a beat down on the Cubs today eases the hurt a little.

Rosenthal is throwing 95 and not on the corners. Maybe his fastball gets back up to 99 as the weather warms up. But 95 or 99 you have to stay out of the middle of the plate.

George Liquor 04-14-2014 06:38 PM

Lynn made it out of the first without getting shelled!!!!!

Exactly. Way too early to panic.

Mi_chief_fan 04-14-2014 07:51 PM

Mother ****ing Bob Davidson. I really wish there was a commissioner that would make an example of these bad old umpires. Bud won't.

Marcellus 04-14-2014 08:00 PM

Jay bails them out of some really shitty base running.

George Liquor 04-14-2014 09:06 PM

Davidson sounds like a real prick.

O.city 04-14-2014 09:21 PM

Lynn was nails tonight

Good for him

Cb Bucknor is the biggest cock sucker in baseball. He thinks people pay to see him

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-14-2014 09:46 PM

I've said it before, but I'll reiterate: every team should be allowed to whip one umpire's ass per year. It would nip the Joe West bullshit in the bud.

Good for him

Be nice if we could ever get a start like this in the playoffs out of Lynn.

Pepe Silvia 04-15-2014 12:53 PM

What a quality start by Lynn last night, need more of that from him.

George Liquor 04-15-2014 01:53 PM

Hopefully Miller will get it together today too.

Do you think he gets under it a little when he's off? He seems to struggle with control at times but his delivery looks pretty normal to me.

I'm not very good at breaking down a pitcher's mechanics.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-15-2014 07:01 PM

Craig is such a terrible ****ing baserunner.

I'm no Dave Duncan, but it seems his stride gets long and the ball elevates.

You could see that coming. He's trying to to get a big lead to score on a base hit cause he's so slow

Marcellus 04-15-2014 07:08 PM

Effectively wild to this point.

O.city 04-15-2014 07:09 PM

Miller definitely has great stuff.

Isn't he just 23?

Marcellus 04-15-2014 07:11 PM

Yup. 23.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-15-2014 07:17 PM

Good situational hitting has gotten the team three runs despite few balls hit very hard.

O.city 04-15-2014 07:18 PM

Shit he's still learning to pitch.

And Peralta crushed a ball that happened to find a glove

O.city 04-15-2014 07:19 PM

Props to DJLN on Adams. Had him pegged all along

O.city 04-15-2014 07:24 PM

Is that really poor base running? Seems it was just bad luck/good plays

Marcellus 04-15-2014 07:45 PM

I don't get what's so hard about calling balls and strikes.

O.city 04-15-2014 07:48 PM

Big zone, small zone, low pitch for strike whatever is fine. Just be consistent.

O.city 04-15-2014 08:01 PM

Ellis is slow

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-15-2014 08:01 PM

Miller just unintentionally threw a screwball.

O.city 04-15-2014 08:03 PM

He throws that "don't get on top of it" fastball alot

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-15-2014 08:34 PM

Please don't talk about how good a reliever looks until after the inning is over.

That was one of those Babe Ruth style homeruns where the ball almost hits the pitcher and then just keeps going up until it hits something to stop it. In this case, it was the big wall behind center field. That was a signature Holliday Hulk Smash homerun.

I've never seen an MLB team look as bad as this Washington team tonight. They've made about every kind of error that can be made, not putting their best effort into it, and have only 1 hit, an infield single, through 7 1/2 innings.

He started the game too. We have 4 RF's mashing the ball in the minors. Surely we can bring up one?

Why start the clock on those guys if they are going to sit five days a week? It's not just a matter of service time, but reps. It's unlikely any of them can hit as well as Craig right now, so bringing them up helps infrequently now, gives them less in-game action, and accelerates their service time.

If it's late in the season and you want to get Oscar and Piscotty on the playoff roster, I'm all for it, but now is not the time for that.

I would not be in favor of burning a year of Oscar or Piscotty for the power/pinch hit off the bench. But Ramsey?? We have no guarantees that we will have 4 more years of WS oppertunity in this window. Wacha could need Tommy John, Miller melts down, Waino gets old ya just never know. I'm not saying we mortgage everything for this year but we can put a few more chips in for this year.

Did you guys see Carpenter blowing a bubble in the middle of play that cost us the out at 3rd? WTF? Distracting yourself in the middle of a crucial play to blow a bubble? A little too relaxed out there. We need to tighten up our play especially the base running.

What a stupid mother****er. Rosenthal should get charged with ten runs and five losses for that. Dumbest ****ing play imaginable. Pull this stupid ****.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-19-2014 01:50 PM

I can live with getting shelled, but that shit should get you benched. If he ever makes a goof like that, he needs to lose the job for a week.

Williams said in the post game interviews he benched Harper for not running out a ground ball back to the pitcher earlier in the game.

Glad to see a manager have some balls honestly. The Nats are greatly underperforming so far.

The Cards are slightly but I would rather have a slow start and strong middle and finish than the usual strong start and fart out in the middle causing a late season surge to be necessary

dude, he got hit by the ball and it threw him off. He's 3 years removed from high school. It was a high pressure situation. People are asking him about his velocity, whats wrong? He's had some bad outings. He's handled pressure situations pretty damn good for his age. Can't expect perfection.

We have made some real bonehead plays lately and throwing to the wrong base = bench the closer?:shake:

His velocity is an issue. When he is throwing 94-95, it looks flat and hittable. He throws it 98-99 he looks like nails out there.

He was throwing upper 90s today, and throwing to the wrong base is a Little League mistake.

I can live with physical mistakes. Hell, I can even understand someone loafing out a ball on the infield. But that shit is intolerable.

The Nats are on pace for a 90 win season right now and the Cardinals are on pace for 99-63 while playing a murderous schedule.

Think about who they've played so far:

Washington: very good team
Milwaukee: best record in baseball
Cincy*2: playoff team last year; very good team as well
Pittsburgh: 95 win team last year; very good this year
Cubs: Yeah, they suck dick.

They've also played 6 games at home and 12 on the road. Altogether, the W-L is fantastic at this point.

Today was the first time. After getting hit by the ball and the visit to the mound did he start throwing 98-99 mph. Something changed. Maybe the coach saw something in his mechanics. Pitchers don't just start throwing their boiler plate fastballs 5 mph faster in the same outing.

I think you see this in all the top teams fans in all sports. Go look at any top teams fan forum no matter the sport. The bar is set high. Expectations are different. It's not a "Cardinals" thing.

There's a difference between high expectations and ridiculous ones. The Cardinals haven't played a representative schedule so far; they've played an incredibly difficult one--two thirds of their games on the road and almost all against teams that will win 85+ games. Nevertheless, they have won over 60% of their games.

Marcellus 04-20-2014 11:40 AM

My comment was more in line with their slow offensive start.

If we can keep the pitching solid and get Craig, Holiday, and Carp rolling it will be fantastic.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-20-2014 01:06 PM

That just shows you how much the small things matter. Bourjos gets hosed on a 3-1 call and could give up on the AB, but sticks in and draws the walk. Then Strasburg finally makes a mistake and Miller pounces on it, hitting a double to left and driving in the run.

That's excellent baseball.

Pasta Little Brioni 04-20-2014 01:48 PM

Incredible job by Choate....nice call Matheny

Pasta Little Brioni 04-20-2014 02:06 PM

....and Martinez blows it. 2 to 2.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-20-2014 03:27 PM

They had an excellent chance to steal that one, but played a pretty shitty baseball game overall. The quality of baseball was ass for most of that series.

Once Kelly comes off the DL I'd like to see them keep Fornatoro or Rondon up. I'm tired of Maness. He needs batted ball luck to survive because he has AA stuff.

Pasta Little Brioni 04-20-2014 03:33 PM

Carpenter is pretty awful at third
