Any talk in the football booth that doesn't have to do with the game can eat a dick. It's even worse on TV when they spend so much time with the camera's on the announcers and guests in the booth rather than showing the game. :cuss:

Haha Phillip Rivers just fumbled again and Seattle recovered and scored shortly thereafter... 14-0 Seattle and the game is only 3 minutes old

I understand it is preseason, that the game means nothing, that we've accomplished everything we wanted to tonight, and getting out of the game without injury is now the most important thing.

That doesn't change my opinion that Herm will sit on a slim lead in the wrong situation more than once during his regime. If people don't like it in preseason, they sure as heck aren't going to like it when the games count. I hope that Herm has great success here, but I've seen this movie and I know how it ends.

VonneMarie 08-26-2006 09:20 PM

Another good run by Smith.

I didn't hear what he said early on, but it sounded like he was in the booth in a game-related capacity. It is the "Governor's Cup" so I'm guessing he's there to give away the Cup to the winner. I didn't hear any partisan rhetoric from him so unless I missed something... I don't mind him being there anymore than I mind any random interview.

Kit Bond was in full campaign mode. That's ridiculous.

Yep this is classic Martyball. Play it ultra-safe and play not-to-lose and blow a lead. It is a proven failure

This is fine in a preseason game like this with an ultra-green offense in there but we better not see this shit in a regular season game.

Herm should be a little funner to listen to after the game.

Mosbonian 08-26-2006 09:29 PM

Does anyone question why the Chiefs picked Pollard now?

*******

Hendrix68 08-26-2006 09:29 PM

News Flash- Pollard's real good.

No surprise at all though-- I watched him just blow receivers up playing for Purdue.

The surprise is the Chefs actually drafted him.

Ultra Peanut 08-26-2006 09:29 PM

Thanks for the feed, Face! It was greatly appreciated.

Red Dawg 08-26-2006 09:31 PM

He is not overrated. Pollard must get on the field this season. He has hit the crap outta people in all the games.

I guarantee no WRs will feel safe running accross the middle with Pollard in there.

Uh... I think when I said "in the wrong situation" I think that pretty much implies a loss. And "during the regular season" pretty much excluded the idea I was talking about tonights game.

big nasty kcnut 08-26-2006 09:40 PM

Daface thank again and hopfully you'll be here thursday for the chiefs aints game.

Hammock Parties 08-26-2006 09:40 PM

Herm's not happy. He says we were sloppy and turnovers bailed us out.

I think his point is that strategy cost the Chiefs a lot of games in the Martyocre era, especially in the playoffs.

Hammock Parties 08-26-2006 09:43 PM

Says winning at home is great, but they still need to win on the road. Says the team has a different mindset at home.

Hendrix68 08-26-2006 09:43 PM

Man.. thinking about this.. Our nickel and dime packages have a shot to be scary (assuming Pollard doesn't become a starter)- Tamba and Allen generating fierce heat on the QB and Pollard downfield to HURT receivers if the QB happens to have any time.

Looking positive so far for this to be a part of our success.

Uh...wouldn't it be prudent, then, to see if the "wrong situatition" at some point "during the regular season" ACTUALLY HAPPENS?

Hammock Parties 08-26-2006 09:46 PM

"When he hits people you can hear it on the sidelines" - Herm.

I like to be first in line.

Hammock Parties 08-26-2006 09:48 PM

Herm is in a worse mood tonight than he was after the two losses.

"I'm not a fan, I'm a coach. I don't like fouls, they bother me."

Herm is sending a message.

Last time I checked, Herm isn't Marty. Plus, it's not like Vermeil's "strategy" was highly successful either.

Hammock Parties 08-26-2006 09:50 PM

Maybe it's just me, but Dick wouldn't have been this pissed after a preseason win. He'd have been patting everyone on the back.

Now, that he has diagnosed the problem, (serious kudos for that, I don't think Vermeil ever articulated this) let's see if he can do something about it. I love seeing them destroy teams at home, but the last couple years I'm tired of all the strutting and celebrating they do at home, only to see them play without any heart on the road. I'd trade all the high stepping at Arrowhead for a little quiet confidence and business like attitude on the road.

Well I didn't make the post.

However, if Hermie goes into protect the lead mode with only a 7-10 point lead in the middle of the 3rd quarter, then he might as well be Marty.

I have no issue if he begins to protect a lead in the middle of the 4th quarter, and I'm not going to assume this preseason game is the strategy he'll use in the regular season.

I'm going to take a wait and see approach.

And in case you missed it, I despised Dick nearly as much as Marty.
